I did noticed in a file (I forgot which one) that some tabs became spaces.
I do prefer tabs. I used them in all sources so please use tabs too.
Python is not very flexible about mixing them.

I agree, BIT should warn the user when it select to backup on a FAT32 drive
(max 4G per file and no hard-links).
A better option for a windows/linux filesystem is NTFS: is support bigger

Strange ... it does work for me.
Please do this test from a terminal:
- go to snapshots folder (~/../backintime/$machine/$user/$profile)
- run "du -sh ." to get disk usage by all snapshots
- run "du -sh $snapshot" for each snapshot
If hard-links are used than the first value should be smaller tha
