Profiles are finished (at least I hope). The profiles combo in
mainwindows is hidden if there is only one profile (main profile).
More than one person asked for profiles so I think adding <profile id>
in the new format it is worth it (and it does not complicate thinks so
much). If there is only one snapshot it is not such a big deal having
"../1/...".
I don't think it work supporting both format at the same time. The old
format should be supported only if we can't convert it (usually
read-only device) abd in this case we will not be able to take new
snapshots. New snapshots should be always in the new format.
Best regards,
Dan

A fast look pointed out that there was probably only one slight
mistake in the kde version: a can_backup without a profile_id. So it
might work now too, however I cannot test it right now...

Hey guys,
I took quite a bunch of evening hours, however it is now quite
stable and functioning quite as it should, but I managed to change
the snapshot folder into a new location ->
backintime/machine/user-profile_id (I did not like the
user/profile_id/, as the id is often only 1 number).
The old snapshots stay were they are. The old folder I added as an
extra other snapshot folder. This way we do not move around old
snapshots, and this way I can start implementing another feature
to be able to select other snapshots folders (e.g. from other
machines, or users (root)). These folders are not used to add new
snapshots, and are not considered for smart-remove.
This also means that the snapshots that are there at the moment
are not removed any longer. I might have to make a kind of update
solution for that.
At the moment I give the snapshots a random tag, associated with
user and a profile, to have unique snapshots_id's in the future,
what is necessary to fetch the paths to these snapshots.
The branch is available: snapshot-location. I still need to change
the kde application, that might still have a lot of struggles with
the profile_id's (in a lot of cases the lack of profile_id's
suddenly give problems when you use the profile_id in the folder
:-)). What do you think about it?
Cheers,
Bart
