Is there any way to keep mic and loudspeaker signals in sync using alsa
(echo cancellation purposes)?
If so, how can I get these signals ???
Is there any kind of notification from alsa/kernel/mixer (or whatever)
to bring these two signals synchronized ?

Hello everybody,
I have a little problem getting my Yamaha Waveblaster(724chip) card to work
probertly.
My problem is as follows:
I can write to /dev/snd/midiC0D0 , but I cant read from it. Example:
"cat file-to-be-dumped.syx >/dev/snd/midiC0D0"
works like a charm(the drummaschine recives, and
find the sfxload utility - some sites mention that sfxload is
included with ALSA, but I can't find it!

I need some help configuring my asound.conf. I want to combine

This is really beginning to annoy me! Whenever I shut down or reboot
Mandrake (9.2), ALSA forgets all mixer settings. When I start up again,
everything is reset to 0 volume and all that can be muted is muted.
Please help, I'm getting gray-haired here!

Hello.
Let's get right into the subject: I have installed the the latest *stable*
release of ALSA Drivers (0.5.9 if my memory serves me). I had to go through
some config stuff like inserting those lines in modules.conf and stuff, but
I succeded at last.
There is one more problem though. I haven't
27;m pretty sure that's correct, but typing "man alsactl" should show what it
can do.
If you put the command "alsactl restore" in your rc.local file, it should
restore your settings each time you boot Linux.

I have a problem getting my soundblaster 128PCI working, I used this card + the
snd-ens1371 driver on a gentoo box with out problems.
But after moving the card over into a slackware box, i cant seem to get it working.
The wierdest thing though, is that modprobe snd-ens1371 SEEMS to work. Meanin
I have a C-Media 8738 based card, and I can get it working in Linux. The
problem is the sound regardless of the level is heavily distorted, as if it
is playing unsigned samples as signed and vice-versa. Is there a work-around
for this?

more times than I can count and still can't get rear sound out of my

The Quattro doesn't have headphone outs, but, the outs it does have are
sufficiently powered to drive headphones. A two-mono-1/4"->stereo-1/4"
adapter connected to two outs should work fine if you need headphones.

Also, the patch I sent you, Robert, produces additional output once the
stream is started and the error is shown that you reported in your first
email. Hence, you need to start the stream in order to gather any new
information.
