Hello. Let's get right into the subject: I have installed the the latest *stable* release of ALSA Drivers (0.5.9 if my memory serves me). I had to go through some config stuff like inserting those lines in modules.conf and stuff, but I succeded at last. There is one more problem though. I haven't managed to make XMMS work with ALSA (I guess I need the 0.9.x version of the drivers - at least that's what alsa-plug-in for XMMS says) so i've installed alsa-player (v. 0.99). Everithing works fine except the mixer settings. I issued ' amixer set Master 50 unmute' - to set the volume to a reasonable amount, but *every* time alsaplayer starts it screws up this setting, as it sets th volume to 100 back again, causing my speakers to explode (not literally ;) ). Is ALSA Player trying to unmute the Master and other channels by setting them to 100 ? What can I do ?
