After a non-response to my previous post about the ESS
1688 audiodrive card, I'm just wondering if ANYONE
actually still uses the ISA version of the card with
the ALSA drivers? And if so, could you send me a copy
of you modules.conf files and any other configuration

Hi,
After doing a clean linux reinstall (Redhat 7.1), I'm upgrading from ALSA
0.9.0beta2 to 0.9.0rc1. Things were previously working fine with the ice1712
module under the beta.
The rc1 build went fine and i modified modules.conf as usual. but upon
modprobe attempts, i get this:

Hi,
I am desesperately trying to install and configure alsa in order to play MIDI file.
I already posted a number of messages and I thank all the people who tried to help me.
This is a long list of what I did, configuration files and tests.
Can anyone have a look on my problem ?
I downloaded
service alsasound stop
make clean
./configure --blabla
make install
service alsasound start

mpg123 doesn't like ID3v2 tags. Try "mpg123 -y file.mp3"

I'm still trying to record using my cs4237b card, and it still doesn't work :-(
I have been testing diferent configuration options and it doesn't change much.
I use
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-cs4236
options snd_port=0x530 snd_cport=0xf00
to my surprise it doesn't make any difference if I use 0x53
Hi,
I would like to request some assistance. I have a sblive sound card,
which I can play audio through. But (and it's a big but) I can only get
audio out my rear speakers. I have my digital speakers connected to the
sblive expansion card. I have tried alsamixer with mixed results. I can

i finally got it working by reverting to the last beta build before the rc1.
now the problem is that sox or ogg123 or mpg123 won't play to the card. i
get all the sounds from KDE (window minimizing, maximizing, etc) but can't
play my audio files. if i pass no params to the above programs,

Maybe someone could point us to a better ALSA mixer. I too have strange
tales to tell of alsamixer and many questions about it. I'd prefer a
more intuitive interface, preferably an X tool, maybe GTK+. Seen
anything like that?

Hello together!
As I had problems with xmms, Linux-2.4.18 and Alsa 0.5.11 on my SuSE
7.0 box I got the advice from this list to upgrade to Alsa 0.9. I
did this yesterday. Now xmms works fine but I have still problems
with midi.
I've got an Soundblaster Live card. Using Alsa 0.5.11 under KDE's
