Does anybody know how to make different dsmcad process running on one (AIX)
machine ?
Through a search in adsm.org I found one website which 'could' explain it,
but
that site is not available anymore. We use 2 different schedulers on the
TSM-server itself.

Thank you for your response,
We turn off the viruscan services before backup and turn them back on
afterwards.
So, this can't be the problem, I think.

Hello my dear TSM friends,
Sorry, but I wil ask a lot of questions in this posting. Please, forgive me.
I have installed TSM only once on an RS/6000 machine (AIX 4.3.3-ML08).
First I had TSM 4.1.3, now I upgraded to 4.2.
In the 2 months I'm using TSM now I wrote a lot of scripts for reporting
Not that I know.
But, be carefull, if you do an upgrade from 4.1 or earlier : there is a bug
in TSM 4.2.x where you can't install more than 1 license for each license
file (you have to reassign all your licenses after the upgrade).
You always get the message "server is not in compliance with lic
We are also using an LTO 3583 library now for 4 months.
In these 4 months no cleaning has been done.
I guess it doesn't need much cleaning (good technology isn't it ?)

- If I want to do Serverless backup / use SAN diskpools I need Sanergy
?
Can you give me any advices concerning LAN-Free / Serverless backup ?
Thank you for your help.
Wouter V.
Unix System Engineer.
But then you need Sanergy I believe + you can only backup with one client at
a time to the shared file space .
So client 1 mounts the San-diskspace, makes it backup, unmounts
Client 2 mounts the san-diskspace (fused), makes it backup, unmount and so
on...
Tell me if I'm wrong.

Wouter.

What problems did you have on 4.2.1.6 (because I'm also using this level and
don't have a problem).

Hello,
Does anybody know if a single TSM server can listen on different ip-adresses
(on different nic's) ? Or do you need to run multiple instances on one
machine ?
TSM Server Config example :
Listening for backup data on NIC1 : 192.168.10.10:1500
and on NIC2
So, this method is really quite often used ?
Great !
So you don't need any special configuration to let the TSM Server listen on
all the NIC's in de machine ?
Cool.

We just introduced TSM in our environment. We are now backuping up

We use a 3583 Ultrium Tape Lib, with 2 drives
Change the nodename in dsm.sys to the node you want to restore.
Or use virtualnodename.
