Onderwerp: Clarifications: LAN Free ( SAN ) Backup

Some clarifications:

Backuping up LAN Free to disk does require SANergy.
Parts of SANergy have NOT been incorporated into TSM.
SANergy allows access to a file system on a SAN drive
by multiple clients - the SANergy MDC coordinates access
to the file system; therefore multiple clients do not scramble
the file system, as would be the case if each system thought
it was "managing" the file system ( since all drives are
viewed as local from each system ).
The SANergy MDC provides information to each SANErgy client that
allows them to directly access the drive on the SAN.
Each client backing up to disk uses its own FILE
devclass device ( it's own file ). A FILE devclass device
may be in use by only one party.
The server coordinates access to an individual file between
the server and the client.
The number of files in use
concurrently is controlled by the MOUNTLIMIT attribute
of the devclass.
The data will move from the SAN to the client
and back to FILE device on the SAN.
