Do a query volhist type=dbb to see the volumes consumed by db backups. To
remove them, use delete volhist type=dbb todate=today-3 (to keep three
versions).
If you have DRM, you can set the parameter drmdbbackupexpiredays to 3 and
DRM will wipe them for you.

Go around DRM. You can update their access to readwrite and TSM will
scratch them. But at that point they become scratch tapes outside the
library which TSM cannot track.

Gang,
Here what I would like to do:
generate backupset node setname'date' devclass=name scratch=yes...
Where I replace 'date' with a symbol that will substitute today's date.
Anybody have an idea how to do this from within a script or within a macro,

I think surgery may be the answer to correct that limp pinky finger of
yours. You may also consider remapping the keyboard placing the Q where the
F is. That, of course, will require you to relearn how to type. In your
case maybe repeat the initial typing course.
Just a thought ;').

Not a real knowledgeable Solaris person, but can 2.7 be a 64 bit OS? We saw
a problem using TSM on Solaris 2.8 in 64 bit mode. The ACSLS drivers would
not run at 64 bit. Dropping back to a 32 bit OS fixed the problem.

I have the hardest time teaching both steps. Just because you move it
doesn't mean its access gets fixed. Two distinct steps. If you do them,
media management becomes much easier. Did I mention that media management
and manipulation is the hardest part of TSM?
Kelly J.
Yes, the old clients will work with the new server just fine and dandy. We
sometimes have to use older clients to support older platforms. I did a gig
recently where we installed a version 2.x client backing up to a 4.1 server.
