of DISKPOOL and TAPEPOOL. Then we have our off-site volumes, imaginatively
entitled COPYPOOL. I am thinking that we do not necessarily ne

upgraded. And if oslevel returns 4.3.1 that means at least one fileset is
still at 4.3.1.
Check with 'oslevel -l 4.3.3.0' to see which filesets still need to be
upgraded. Or use instfix for something like :

I have a question regarding compression and 3590 drives. I must apologise
that I am not the most technically minded person, so responses in laymen's
terms are most appreciated.
Set-up
TSM 3.7.3.8 Server running on a Solaris 7 box
Attached to an IBM 3494 library with two 3590 drive
Look at the format of the device class for the drives.
If you let it default to "DRIVE" it will use all available hardware
compression...
I always tell clients to use compression and I also have the drives set to
use compression.

Device Class Name: 3590E1A
Estimated capacity is "estimated". You can define it is 1 MB or 2000 GB. It
is just a prediction. When data is actually written and tape end reached
TSM changes this value to actual capacity.
So do not look to volumes in "Filling" state, look on to "Full" ones.

Yes, TDP for Apps products do not need too much B/A client. But they
desperately need the API client which comes only with B/A client. I do not
know will those clients be separated someday or not. And for now I think
about them as a one whole client (with TDP as a plug-in).

disappeared on me. We went back to the cd for 4.2.0 and copied the DRM.lic
file from there. Not sure why the file disappears but it did for us also.
