exclusively for ISP
archives/backup overflow/offsite copies) nor any type of magnetic tapes.
Also, if we move away from IBM/ISP, all archives will have to be extricated
from ISP servers (legal requirements for some of these archives is 5-years).
So if you have dealt or plan to deal with this kind of
configured "enterprise data
protection" system for the 25+ years (i.e. ADSM and earlier) I have been
responsible for "backups" - to no avail!
As I mentioned in my initial post, the reason I am focused on Archives is
two-fold. First, there is a high probability that we will be moving
old file based, tape copy pool etc.
If you have enough disk space to contain your present primary disk and tape
holdings (not including copypools) just take the jump.
As the others pointed out you can stop and start the conversion. Don't
differentiate between backups, archives, nodes. T
ing for trouble IMHO.

With 6.1 clients, we can use "set event" to put an archive on hold,

Any wisdom?

This turned out to be a case of the directory (and client) no longer
existing. The archives became visible using the command line "q archive
{filespace}".
Thanks for the reply!

Well, that's a normal case where the archives do not belong to the

Delete Archives option.
Is it possible on a linux server to also delete these at a command line
level?

Sorry if I was not clear - I mean where the client is a linux server.
Using the GUI via IE is a bit flaky - I can delete one archive then
when I try to do a second it locks up and I have to kill dsmcad and
restart it on the client then try again.
