Hi Folks,
I just installed ADSM 3.1.0.8 client on an HP_UX 10.20 server. Everything is
working fine, except the GUI on the client. When I started up the backup

Oh my, seems like I started a holy war (again) :)
Anyway, thanks for the answers, now I see clear ! I started using TSM with
Version 4.1.x, so I didn't know there once was a "real" GUI for *SM.
Nevertheless, I would REALLY like such a tool cause I don't like the web gui

Lets be truthful, IT really stinks as a support tool.
Does anyone actually like the site? I doubt it. IBM, in their rush to control access
to the software has destroyed a great support site and replaced it with junk.

Hi Christo!
Yep! I'm still using the 3.1.08 Admin GUI. I still like it a WHOLE LOT

OK, you sould be able to start TSM as if it were a totally new

do that and since your device class you used to backup the db was a "file",
redefine that ~file_device_class~ in your bare/fresh tsm, halt tsm, and

Eric,
Hmn - looks like you'll need to add some entries into the dsmserv.opt
file on your TSM server. This is the TSM Server options file, and the
TSM server process re-reads this every time you start it up. The entries
you need might in the simplest form look like this:
VOLHIST volhist.out
DEVCON
Definately read the manual as explained by Andy already!

Hi Eric,
did you make a devconfig and volhist backup after the DB backup and before the DB
restore?
- backup devconfig
- backup volhist
If you didn't, startup TSM (if you still can !!) and make those backups. Then the
restore will succeed.
