[Bug 202454] Re: Scrolling continues after releasing arrow key
It happens to me out of the box with Intrepid. This is on an MSi Wind, so I suppose the "underpoweredness" of the machine is an important factor. But this should not happen. It is particularly noticable here, with almost any webpage. For instance in this launchpad page, if I'm at the top of the page and press the down key until the scollbar reaches the middle position, and then release the key, scrolling continues for *several seconds* until the bottom of the page is reached. -- Scrolling continues after releasing arrow key https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202454 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 364786] [NEW] openoffice slide show doesn't work with dual screen
Public bug reported: Hardware: Dell Latitude D810, ATI Radeon Mobility X600, using open-source driver. Monitors are configured with xrandr, internal monitor (1920x1200) on the right of external monitor (1680x1050). With ooimpress, when I attempt to start the slideshow, only two scrollbars appear on the monitor on which the slideshow is supposed to appear; whatever was displayed on the screen prior to starting the slideshow remains displayed, but cannot be interacted with (ie., there is a window with no content except the scrollbars displayed on top of the whole monitor, and it fails to paint anything so whatever was drawn on the screen remains there). The content of the slides do not appear, and I cannot exit the "slide show" by pressing Escape or Alt+F4, I have to use xkill to get rid of it. [Bug 315271] [NEW] hal-info update causes resume from suspend issue
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal-info An update to hal-info causes a strange behavior on a Dell Latitude D810 laptop: resuming from suspend with an external monitor plugged in causes the internal monitor to not display anything, regardless of how the external monitor is configured (clone, big desktop, off). A few details: - The backlight seems to be turned on. - Before the hal-info update, when resuming from suspend, the text-console blinking cursor briefly appears on the internal monitor before the desktop shows up; after the update, the cursor appears on the external monitor. This is 100% reproducible. Upgrading from hal-info 20081013-0ubuntu3 (the version that is on the Intrepid CD) to 20081124-0ubuntu1~intrepid makes the problem appear, downgrading to the former makes the problem disappear. ** Affects: hal-info (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- hal-info update causes resume from suspend issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315271 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 262152] Re: brings up both wired and wireless interfaces; hard to pick just one through the UI
There is a similar report of Fedora: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=454955 There the devs say it is intended behavior for NM to connect to all networks that are marked "auto connect". However, I think there should be an option to only allow one connection at a time, with some priorities (eg. wired has more priority than wireless). There are clearly situations were you do not want to have two connections at the same time, like, eg., the one mentioned by Michael Milligan above. Moreover there is a cognitive issue because nm-applet doesn't seem to know what icon to display: a strenght meter or a wire; sometimes it is one and sometimes the other. -- brings up both wired and wireless interfaces; hard to pick just one through the UI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262152 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 315271] Re: hal-info update causes resume from suspend issue
Hmmm, I spoke too fast, sometimes when the external monitor is unplugged when I resume from suspend, the internal monitor fails to turn on. It turns on when I plug in the external monitor and activate it with xrandr (I have a keyboard shortcut to activate it so I can do that with the internal screen turned off). Public bug reported: OS: Kubuntu Jaunty AMD64 Hardware: Dell Studio Hybrid Problem: Power button actions configured in KDE4 System settings not obeyed In System Settings/Advanced/Power management, I set all profiles to suspend to RAM on pressing power button. However, pressing the power button immediately shuts down the computer. It seems the problem comes from the scripts in /etc/acpi. Same thing here with a Feisty CD on an Athlon 1700+ desktop. I checked the CD for errors and performed a memtest - all ok. [Bug 116416] guidance-power-manager and kpowersave stop working
Public bug reported: Both guidance-power-manager and kpowersave stop working after some time in Feisty (I am not running both at the same time, I just tried one and then the other). In particular, they stop reacting to the lid close event, which is supposed to suspend my laptop. [Bug 13671] Re: slocate daily anacron job makes system feel slow
I tried to measure the impact of ionice on updatedb when running in parallel with a full Eclipse workspace rebuild, a CPU- and disk-intensive process. The man page of ionice states that it works with the CFQ IO scheduler. How do I know which scheduler I am running, and how do I change it? [Bug 130253] Re: Kubuntu Gutsy: Volume OSD is too small
Okay, I've had a look at the kmilo code. It seems the OSD is configurable through skins, however the choice of the skin is hardcoded. A possibility would be: - implement several skins (for now there is only one in the kmilo code base, I guess the skin used in Kubuntu simply replaces the default skin of kmilo) - add a configuration module for kmilo where one can choose the skin; that module would be available from the KDE system settings window. I can do that, but I would like to know if it would be welcome by the kubuntu maintainers; otherwise I'll just compile another skin and replace kmilo on my own box, without creating a config module. -- Kubuntu Gutsy: Volume OSD is too small https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130253 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 196375] [NEW] [Hardy] knetworkmanager keeps asking for WEP key although it knows it
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: knetworkmanager This is a somewhat random bug in Kubuntu Hardy. Quite often, when the network manager tries to connect to my WEP-encrypted network, the connection attemp times out on DHCP and then knetworkmanager pops up the "Connect to wireless network" dialog where I must enter the WEP key (which seem to indicate that it tried to configure the network interface with a wrong key, hence the DHCP timeout). The funny thing is that in the dialog's passphrase/key field, my hex key is already correctly filled in. The only thing that is incorrect is that the encryption type is set to WEP passphrase instead of WEP hex. I just have to select WEP hex in the combo and validate, and the connection succeeds. If I set it to 100% using kmix, pressing the volume down key works as expected, but then again the volume up key cannot get it past 48%. If I set it again to 100% using kmix and then press the volume up key, the volume immediately gets down to 48% I think the package is kmilo. ** Affects: kdeutils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- [kubuntu hardy] Cannot set volume higher than 48% with hot keys https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/194797 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
