Same thing here with a Feisty CD on an Athlon 1700+ desktop. I checked the CD for errors and performed a memtest - all ok. Basically the issue is that the CD drive keeps spinning forever, even without launching the installer, and system responsivity gets worse over time, even doing nothing. I tried killing some processes (NetworkManager, screen saver and various other) but nothing improved. How can I know which process is accessing the CD drive?
