[Bug 78044] Re: Crash exiting from MythFlix
Hello and thank you for reporting. Was this a one time crash or is it consistently reproducible? If it is consistent, it would be useful to the package maintainer and/or developers if you would run a backtrace with debugging symbols. You can find information on how to do that at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash, the only difference will be that your apt sources.list line should read deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/ddebs edgy main universe multiverse Mario knows much more about this, but from a very cursory look over, this will be forwarded upstream if it is consistently reproducible by others. In which case, the MythTV crew will need the full backtrace with debugging symbols. Thank you. ** Changed in: mythplugins (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info -- Crash exiting from MythFlix https://launchpad.net/bugs/78044 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 57355] Re: BCM1390M (broadcom 4311) with ndiswrapper and nvidia IRQ conflicts
sorry Brian, but it doesn't :( I'm on HP DV2000 (dv2125nr), running Slackware 11. Have hardtime with this issue a long time already. Have my BIOS updated, using NVIDIA latest drivers NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9631 And I'm trying every single ndiswrapper released since v 1.20 It does work for me perfectly with using kernels 2.4.XX only! But I have the same ndiswrapper and nvidia IRQ conflict issue when I'm on any of 2.6.XX kernel. Unfortunately. But I wish to use exactly 2.6.XX kernel for my laptop, due to many reasons, as one of them is better ACPI. So, I have not given up yet and still keep my fingers crossed to one Guru, I guess, that will be able to find solution. All the best to all of you! Cheers! P.S. [Bug 77383] Re: vnc4 authentication bypass
I note that this vulnerability was released over 7 months ago now... It was reported (in bug 50913) a little over a month after it was discovered, and pitti posted a comment mentioning that a MOTU could take care of it if they wanted. Unfortunately, there's no proper universe security process, so nobody else really even saw the bug. [Bug 78060] When Listen is minimized, it cannot be brought back to normal
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: listen If one minimizes the listen application window, it gets sent from the pager to the notification area automatically. Now that is all swell and all, but if you try to bring it back again to "windowed" mode, it only flashes in the pager for half a second and then gets sent back to the notification area again... I am suspecting that maybe it has something to do with the return state when minimized. The way I see it, listen gets returned to the pager, but due to it being "minimized", it automagically gets sent to the notification area again. Steps to reproduce: 1.Open listen. Click on the minimize button. Observe that the application moves from the pager to the notification area. Click (doesn't matter how many times) on the icon in the notification area. Notice that it flashes back in the pager, -with or without the hint of it forming on the screen- and then suddenly goes back to the notification area again. 2.Right-click the listen applet in the notification area. Choose quit. Re-open listen. Click on the close button. Observe that the application moves directly to the notification area (no pager minimization animation). Click on the applet in the notification area. Notice that it comes up normally as expected. As you can see, the problem is with the minimizing return state, and not the applet per se. Proposed Fix: Make sure that when listen comes back to "windowed" mode from the notification area, it's properties are not on 'minimize'. ** Affects: listen (upstream) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: listen (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Bug watch added: SourceForge.net Tracker #1598646 http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=1598646 ** Also affects: listen (upstream) via http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=1598646 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- When Listen is minimized, it cannot be brought back to normal https://launchpad.net/bugs/78060 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 78062] Kernel update crashes "cryptsetuped" Ubuntu systems
Public bug reported: Kernel update completely crashes Ubuntu systems with encrypted root partition. This is a CRITICAL bug, which can be easly solved as described belov. I have Ubuntu 6.06 with full disk encryption. I have a small /boot partition, which is unencrypted, and /, /home and /swap encrypted with crytpsetup. This is how my system looks like: /etc/fstab: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # proc/proc procdefaults0 0 /dev/mapper/croot / ext3defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1 /dev/mapper/cswap noneswapsw 0 0 /dev/mapper/chome /home ext3defaults0 0 /dev/hda1 /boot ext3defaults0 2 /dev/hdc/media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user, noauto 0 0 /dev/fd0/media/floppy0 autorw, user, noauto 0 0 AND /etc/crypttab: # croot /dev/hda4 none cswap /dev/hda2 /dev/urandomswap chome /dev/hda3 /etc/keys/home.key Procedure for setting-up the system is quite straight 1. Create 4 partitions: /boot, temporary root partition (which will become future /swap), future /home and future root partition. 2. Install server version of Ubuntu on temporary root partition. 3. Install cryptsetup and yaird packages. 4. Create and format encrypted partitions on "future /home" and "future root partition". 5. Copy existing root partition to future root partition. 6. Chroot into "future root partition" and change /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab files. 7. Make new initrd with mkinitrd.yaird 8. Set /swap to be on temporary root partition 9. Reboot. OK, the system is working, but when I receive the kernel update, system crashes after reboot. I found out the problem. The problem is, that after installing kernel update, Ubuntu copies his own initrd scripts. If I run mkinitrd.yaird before system reboot, system do not crash. This is a fatal error for those running whole system encryption on their system, but can be easily solved if Ubuntu will run mkinitrd after each kernel update (as Debian do). Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution-exchange Running zeitgeist Edgy i386 (as at 5/1/07) on a Dell D610 laptop. I find that Evolution, particularly evolution-exchange tends to crash fairly frequently against my corporate Exchange server and have set getting to the bottom of the problem as a new years resolution. Installed evolution-dbg and evolution-data-server-dbg packages to provide additional backtrace information. Invoked env E2K_DEBUG=1 evolution >& evo.log Soon after startup I received a Bug Buddy notification of evolution- exchange failure. Have attached both the evo.log file collected from above as well as the backtrace from Bug Buddy. Please advise if there are additional debug parameters, techniques which I should apply. I've found http://www.gnome.org/projects/evolution/bugs.shtml recommending approaches to triage, but this seems to date from the Evo 1.0 era and doesn't seem to cover the modern evolution-exchange connector. What additional debug ENV flags exist? Unfortunately, I'm not yet up to wading through all of the backtraces to make sense of where the problem could be but am more than happy to work with the team to resolve the issue. [Bug 78065] iriverter doesn't recognize Java on my system
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: iriverter In Feisty, iriverter has (among other dependencies) "java-gcj-compat | sun-java5-bin". I have java-gcj-compat installed, but not sun- java5-bin; I do however have sun-java6-bin installed. Running iriverter from Terminal gives the following error: /usr/bin/iriverter: 4: java: not found Given the dependency listed, I should be able to run it even if I don't have sun-java5-bin installed. Since it doesn't, please either change it to something like: Depends: java-gcj-compat Depends: sun-java5-bin or preferably: Depends: java-gcj-compat Depends: sun-java5-bin | sun-java6-bin and then please fix it so that it knows where Java 6 is :) ** Affects: iriverter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- iriverter doesn't recognize Java on my system https://launchpad.net/bugs/78065 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 75296] Re: Ubuiquity crashes when trying to erase the entire disk on Xbuntu Live
The system you describe should be enough to run Xubuntu. [Bug 78038] Re: rhythmbox interferes with suspend
That is a new plugin, it should probably be listed by the interface though, you can stop it by changing the /apps/rhythmbox/plugins/power- manager/active gconf key to false Cody, do you really think that a small bug like that one is a candidate for a specification? [Bug 75704] Re: Repeated suspend mode after 6.10 install
sorry for late reply, anyway my solution was set ACPI_SLEEP=false in /etc/default/acpi-support that will prevent any functionality of sleep in your laptop for make it boot one time and fix the acpi-support file, just stop GRUB at start and add "noacpi acpi=off" at the kernel parameters anyway all those infos are taken from a discussion on ubuntu-users mailing list, link below: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-users/2006-October/098078.html good luck fixing your laptop! -- Repeated suspend mode after 6.10 install https://launchpad.net/bugs/75704 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 78069] Installer hangs or slows down dramatically
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft and 7.04 Feisty Fawn, the installer hangs or has very poor performance during the first few steps of installation, this is most evident when selecting time zone. When you select your time zone, the computer slows to a crawl and usually crashes completely. I believe this may be something to do with the default Vesa drivers for Nvidia graphics cards as graphical performance is very slow on the same machine with the issue with default Vesa drivers. How to reproduce: 1/ Load Edgy Eft or Feisty Fawn LiveCD installer. 2/ Start the installation process. 3/ When selecting time zone, select an area close to where your time zone is, performance is very slow and installer hangs, computer can still function fine in the background. [Bug 78071] Installs i686 kernel also on i586 -> does not boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debian-installer The Edgy server install CD by default installs the "linux-image-server" kernel that is compiled for i686, even on i586 systems that do not support i686 instructions. In my case, the processor model was AMD K6. The result was that the system always rebooted when loading the kernel. The problem was fixed by installing the "linux-image-386" kernel (booting from rescue CD). It would be nice if the install CD checked the processor architecture, and installed an appropriate kernel. This problem may be a show-stopper for people with old hardware and little experience. I am not sure whether this problem exists also for the desktop CD. ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Installs i686 kernel also on i586 -> does not boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/78071 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
