Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft and 7.04 Feisty Fawn, the installer hangs or has very poor performance during the first few steps of installation, this is most evident when selecting time zone. When you select your time zone, the computer slows to a crawl and usually crashes completely.
I believe this may be something to do with the default Vesa drivers for Nvidia graphics cards as graphical performance is very slow on the same machine with the issue with default Vesa drivers. How to reproduce: 1/ Load Edgy Eft or Feisty Fawn LiveCD installer. 2/ Start the installation process. 3/ When selecting time zone, select an area close to where your time zone is, performance is very slow and installer hangs, computer can still function fine in the background.
