KX-T: Caller ID from KX-TD1232

2003-09-18 Thread Finn Lassen
Anybody want to tell me the secret to have Caller ID output immediately
on the serial port?
I wrote a simple computer program to monitor the serial port and send
number to different computers on the network.

Problem is, the KX-TD1232 seems to only output the "log" data after the
incoming call has been picked up, or even completed.

How odd. Mine works fine.

In TFM there's a 990 code(s) you need to change. One is AN,RC (area 5 bit
13) to Zero.
The other is area 5 bit 12 which should already be set to zero for CID
number display.

RE: KX-T: Does Anyone have A Contract???

2003-09-18 Thread SloopJohnB
Yes, the problem is that some clients are a little too eager to get their
system installed, but not so eager to pay "Upon Job Completion" as the
Estimates and Invoices all say. So now is the time to start getting them to
sign contracts, fill out credit apps, and leave 50% deposits. Don't you love
dealing with these types??

Thank You,

I use a sales contract I wrote with a very lengthy paragraph on warranty and
liabilities, and legal section on collections for nonpayment, which I have
the unfortunate case of having occur way too often here.

In a Panasonic installation, I get 50% down to cover the Pana hardware, 30%
when the system is substantially installed (ie your delay is not my
problem), and the balance net 30. Now the slow pay for the 20% isn't so
much of a problem.

If they can't give you a check for the last chunk on completion, ask for a
credit card number.

You're better off paying a few bucks to the credit card company and getting
97% of 20% today, instead of 100% of 20% in 30-90 days...or 0% of 20% when
they go bust in 180 days.

ISTM there are words to put in the contract such that it is your
equipment UNTIL it is fully paid for.

Get your attorney to tell you the facts, including if this is
worthwhile; it likely varies by state.

Wow, in 22 years I have taken about 4 credit cards to pay for a system. So
many that I don't even have a merchant account for the last 17 years (I do
have a Paypal account).

My national accounts are more of a problem than the local ones. I guess
getting in their face and threatening to take/or not completing a key
portion of the installation usually gets a check upon completion. I think
my writeoffs in 22 years is about .01%. I walk away from a lot of bids
where it looks like the customer is just "kicking the tires". The 50%
usually seperates the wheat from the chaff. You don't know me, I don't
know you, but I want you to give me half down :-)

My worst nightmare is the national's trick, "Well we haven't been paid yet
so we can't pay you." Huh? Did I work for you or the customer. Oh. Give
me the number and I'll call the account and do my own collections.
And BTW you are on credit hold and CIA for all future jobs. They want 10%
hardware markup and to use your money for 90 daysBzzt. Wrong answer.

KX-T: T7885 Range

2003-09-18 Thread Wilcom VDV
Hello All,
I have a customer interested in a TA624 and would like 4 kx-t7885
cordless phones. This is an automotive sales location and they would
like the salesmen to be able to use the phones while out on the lot.
The farthest point being 300ft from the building.
I was wondering what the range on the 7885’s are (can they reach 300ft)
and is the range affected by having multiple units working close
together.
I was also wondering if I would be better off waiting until the new
kx-taw848 is released and try that out.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
-Tim
