A change in font requires changing column widths and I know someone has

Now - if you have your file, use Windows explorer to find the folder where it ne

Once you can "see" this folder - you then can copy the file that you made to thi

One more thing — the file that you made may need to be like Joanna's. Mine show

  2.
In this file, you just need one line of text: * {font: 14px verdana, arial,

Save this file with the one line of text in the following folder - c:\users\x
\Appdata\Roaming\Gnucash (where x is your user profile). If this does
not make sense to you - open GnuCash and hit HELP — ABOUT. The folder listed ne

Close out of Gnucash, if you have it open, and then re-open it and the new font

made a mistake. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the fast response. I had searched the bug list, user mail and
a couple forums. I guess my search terms were not conducive for success.
Changing my theme did indeed fix the issue. I was using the same theme as
the person in the bug report.

The issue for me is that the mx-comfort theme works best for all the apps
(except this GnC issue) that I use and changing the theme results in visual
difficulties depending on the app.
I spent a couple days in the source code but I am not good enough at it to
figure out the GTK Widget id/name(s) so I can possibly compensate for the
theme shortcoming by using the gtk-3.0.css route.

Thanks again, especially all you do for GnC

Just a suggestion: it is much easier to help you when instead of a bare
"can't" or "didn't work" you tell us what you tried and what happened,
especially the text of any error messages.

But before you do that, please try this: Click Start » Run, or press
the Windows logo key and the R key at the same time. In the window,
paste or type this exact text:
%APPDATA%\GnuCash
That will open the folder you need to work with. Please follow the last

[GNC] Changing fonts

2024-10-22 Thread Richard Gaede via gnucash-user
I am a longstanding Gnu Cash user, currently using V5.6 on 3 Win
machines (2x11, 1x10). On my latest machine, which was a clean install,
the size of the register font is causing me difficulties. I have
succesfully changed fonts in reports, however cannot do so for the
registers.

I have followed the various recent comments about editing gtk-3.0.css,
but cannot locate such a file on my system. There is no reference to it
anywhere in GTK_USERCONFIG_DIR. The only place I have found anything
like it is in the Program Files … …Gnu Cash\etc\gtk-3.0. The latter is a
directory containing settings.ini and im_multipress.conf. On
examination, only settings.ini seems to have any relevance, and its
contents look nothing like what is shown in the examples of gtk-3.0.css.
the situation is similar on my other Win 11 machine which has gone
through several upgrades.

What am I missing in order to change the register font to something
other than an optometrist's delight?

Any guidance greatly appreciated.

P.S. My thanks to the developers and all others in making this excellent
software package work as well as it does.

Re: [GNC] Changing fonts

2024-10-22 Thread R Losey
As I read the help, the file doesn't exist until you create it; it needs to
be put in the GNC_USERCONFIG_DIR as defined in the "About" menu item. I'm
currently on a Mac, and I'm certain that the "About" item is somewhere else
on Windows.

So, you need to create the file somewhere, and then copy it to
the configuration directory, restart GnuCash, and the changes should take
effect.

Ken Pyzik gave me a one-line gtx file which I was finally able to copy to the

I’ll start a new thread asking how I can adjust all column widths in the

GnuCash uses this action label to alert you that there is more than one
'payment' in this transaction, and then asks you to choose which one you
want to edit. (there could also be a hidden key affecting this, but I
haven't investigated that. The action field is certainly not hidden though)

Adrien

Thanks all previus answers and considerations.
To be clear what I meant: (Screenshots are from German version)

It is about the predefined options in the Nr column in the individual
transaction splits.

But as I understood there is no place with overall definition of the
individual entries and what side effects they may produce.

Thanks again.

Also, when you post a bill/invoice, the line-item splits get

Another point about the 'payment' actions is that they get applied to
both the AR/AP split, and the source account split. As far as I know,
only the one assigned to the AR/AP split is meaningful/particular,
because if you have more than one, and you edit the payment, it seems

Re: [GNC] Character size adjustment

2024-10-22 Thread Ken Pyzik
Finbar:

  1.
If you don't have one already, you want to make a small text file called:
gtk-3.0.css

   2. In this file, you just need one line of text: * {font: 14px
verdana, arial, sans-serif;} (format it just like I have it and notice, I am
using 14 font and I am using verdana as the main one because that is what I
like. Use what ever size and font you want to replace the 14px verdana).

  1.
3. Save this file with the one line of text in the following folder -
c:\users\x\Appdata\Roaming\Gnucash (where x is your user profile), or
- open GnuCash and hit HELP — ABOUT. The folder listed next to
GNC_USERCONFIG_DIR is where the file needs to be.

Close out of Gnucash, if you have it open, and then re-open it and the new font
should take hold.Hope this helps.

Ken

Odd that you should bring this up at this very moment. Try looking at the

I think not, though I can understand the confusion. I believe this is
the difference between the two:

The check box in File » Properties » Accounts controls what happens in
the current book. The check box in Edit » Preferences » General controls
whether that box is checked automatically when you create a new book,
and has no impact on the present book.

Or at least, that's how I read the wording next to the boxes.
