I do not recognize it, but my first guess would be that it is an
incompatibility between two packages, e.g. gobject python bindings and
gtk python bindings compiled to different versions of the library.

Reason is that the warnings are about declaration of gio constants.
These are declared in the C library, not in the python code. If
declarations are not correct, I guess we have two conflicting versions
of the library linked.

As to minimum version I only specified gtk >= 2.6 that will pull in a
minimum version of gobject, but that would be a rather old version.

Use of the gio library is optional in zim, but when used it likely
pulls in a minimum version of gobject as well.

Hope this helps,

Jaap

This is a grave bug in busybox. Grave because it causes silent

I'm not sure what the procedure here is, is there something else I'm
supposed to have done?

Should I just upload and retitle this bug s/(pre-approval)// or shall I

Bug#677371: proposed docfix for missing readline

2012-12-20 Thread Robert Bihlmeyer
Hi,

The manpage should not just document a feature that we don't have. So I
put in verbiage that this is missing, and why.

I left some documentation about readline intact, because one may be
connected to another host that has a readline-enabled socat, while
reading the page on wheezy.

Can you attach some network log of one of these events? (You can
get it on Tools menu, Log window option).

As a workaround you may try to set the socket timeout from 60
seconds to something lower which makes it a bit more responsive
in the case you're observing. You can find this on Configuration
menu, Common preferences option, Details tab, Advanced subtab.

I guess you mean on Sylpheed... anyway the IMAP part is pretty
different, Claws-Mail relies on libetpan while Sylpheed has its
own implementation in its internal libsylph.

If you have a piece of log of the Thinderbird's IMAP dialog in
the same situation, please attach them too.

Bug#696386: makedumpfile fails with elf_readall error

Package: makedumpfile

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
Testing packaging of new 1.5.1 version of makedumpfile.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Ran normal kernel panic test.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
The following output came out when makedumpfile tried to run :

Starting kdump-tools: [info] running makedumpfile -c -d 31 -x

$MAKEDUMP_ARGS $vmcore_file $KDUMP_CORETEMP

Since this was while testing makedumpfile 1.5.1 for packaging, I tested the
current packaged 1.5.0-1 which tested successfully previously and it also
fails. This might be a regression from another package.

It is important to note that makedumpfile correctly runs on the dump file once
the system is back to multi-user.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
makedumpfile correctly process the /proc/vmcore file

That means that I am now able to send STARTTLS email with my smtp connection.

However I checked server certificate algorithm with:

openssl s_client -connect MY.smtp.HOSTNAME:587 -starttls smtp <

(I had to add "smtp" to -starttls option)

that gave me:

  * Rename package qtcurve-i18n to qtcurve-l10n.
New package provides virtual package qtcurve-i18n for smooth transition.
  * Fix get-orig-source section in according with Debian Policy §4.9.
  * Remove obsolete DM-Upload-Allowed flag.

There's a 32 letter switch to tell wget not to convert filenames to
names that are invalid in the current locale? Taking valid filenames
and mangling them to be invalid is not acceptable.

> Wget isn't
> anybody's job, which means that you are not anyone's customer.

That's the esprit de corps! Dismiss people frustrated with data
corruption bugs that have been open for years! Demand they offer
patches when there's no evidence any is interested in fixing it! 14
years ago, Debian made it release-critical for Hamm to break 8-bit
data; if the program didn't work, it got removed. Is it not too much
to expect that people running the most common locale charset should
not have their data corrupted by Debian programs?

Bug#696389: libglib2.0-0: harmful postrm actions for M-A: same package: rm -f /usr/lib/.../modules/giomodule.cache /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled

2012-12-20 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: libglib2.0-0
Version: 2.33.12+really2.32.4-3
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

libglib2.0-0.postrm does some cleanup that is potentially harmful in a
multiarch setup. Just think about libglib2.0-0:someforeignarch being
removed while libglib2.0-0:native is kept installed:

rm -f /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gio/modules/giomodule.cache
rm -f /usr/lib/gio/modules/giomodule.cache
rm -f /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled

The latter two should only be done when removing the last instance of
libglib2.0-0 ... or some trigger should be actived that may
update/recreate these caches ...

Furthermore the directory removal is not needed as well, because this
should be handled dpkg and its reference counting:

rmdir -p --ignore-fail-on-non-empty /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gio/modules
rmdir -p --ignore-fail-on-non-empty /usr/lib/gio/modules
rmdir -p --ignore-fail-on-non-empty /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas

Two of these directories are already owned by several packages, and the
third should just be shipped as an empty directory by libglib2.0-0

# dpkg -S /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gio/modules /usr/lib/gio/modules
/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas
libglib2.0-0:amd64, dconf-gsettings-backend:amd64:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gio/modules
dpkg-query: no path found matching pattern /usr/lib/gio/modules
libglib2.0-0:amd64, libgtk-3-common: /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas

I just started doing some co-installation tests of the M-A: same
packages (about 2000 for sid and wheezy, each)

setup minimal wheezy (or sid) amd64 chroot
  install $PKG
  enable-foreign-architecture i386
  snapshot
  install $PKG:i386
  purge *:i386
  compare with snapshot

and see quite a lot of these errors:

Bug#696333: Fwd: -e at begining of xml file

2012-12-20 Thread Mathieu Malaterre
tags 696333 upstream

Problem is that Debian uses dash instead of sh as the default shell.
dash, in contrast to just about any other sh implementation or sh
replacement, does not understand the echo -e option and simply prints
it literally. I'll have to replace the echo -e calls with printf calls
to make the code portable to dash.

Bug#696390: ntp: misbuilds with multiarch libssl-dev

2012-12-20 Thread Colin Watson
Package: ntp
Version: 1:4.2.6.p5+dfsg-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu ubuntu-patch raring

In #689093, we've been trying to work out how best to make libssl-dev
Multi-Arch: same; the obstacle is that the
header file has architecture-dependent contents. Lots of packages
detect OpenSSL headers in rather dubious ways at build time, so we have
to be quite careful about moving them.

The best approach seems to be to move /usr/include/openssl/opensslconf.h
to /usr/include/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)/openssl/opensslconf.h, and leave
all other files in their current locations. This causes the fewest
problems of any solution I've been able to find, but it does cause two
packages (m2crypto and opendkim) to fail to build, and it causes ntp to
incorrectly build without OpenSSL support.

The following patch fixes this. I've tested that this still builds with
the current non-multiarch libssl-dev, so it should be safe to apply this
any time, and it would be helpful to do so as soon as possible to
unblock the libssl-dev change.

  * Look for rather than , which
is due to move to a different location in order to support multiarch.

I can't trigger this. Please could you execute the postrm with -x and attach the

Mixing the status output from gpg and the data is a bad idea. It's
probably still possible to bypass the check with something like

{ echo something; echo "[GNUPG:] VALIDSIG" } | gpg --store

If you use --status-fd, please use a file descriptor that is not used
for anything else.

Thanks for suggesting this. Some don't:

389-ds-base aeskulap apcupsd asio autofs chntpw cmtk dicomscope eagle
  fwbuilder gambas3 gnome-commander gst-plugins-bad1.0 guymager
handlersocket havp htcheck ifstat inspircd isc-dhcp iscsitarget
  kde4libs kdesvn libapache-mod-log-sql libfprint libgwenhywfar
  libyahoo2 mcabber mysql++ ntp openclonk opensaml2 openswan pam-mysql
postgis postgresql-8.4 pygresql qpid-cpp qt4-x11 quassel quota racket
rhash shibboleth-sp2 ssldump subcommander telepathy-rakia valknut
  vdr-plugin-live vidalia vmtk wzdftpd

I ran 'grep-aptavail -XFSource:Package "$x" | grep libssl1' on each of
these. Most are false positives in that they don't have any libssl
dependencies in unstable either: I guess they're indirect dependencies,
redundant build-dependencies, or build-dependencies for build tools that
don't actually end up in the package. rhash has a Recommends instead of
a Depends.

Looking through the logs manually as an extra sanity-check, the
following packages don't appear to even try to link against libssl or
libcrypto directly, and none of them observably fail to detect OpenSSL
(some don't seem to try at all; some try but then use something else
such as GnuTLS instead; a few seem to use the headers but rely on
something else for indirect linkage; some obscure their link lines so
it's hard to tell but seems harmless):

aeskulap apcupsd autofs chntpw cmtk eagle fwbuilder gambas3
gnome-commander gst-plugins-bad1.0 guymager handlersocket havp htcheck
ifstat inspircd isc-dhcp iscsitarget kde4libs kdesvn
  libapache-mod-log-sql mcabber mysql++ openclonk opensaml2 openswan
pam-mysql postgis postgresql-8.4 pygresql quassel quota racket
  shibboleth-sp2 subcommander telepathy-rakia valknut vdr-plugin-live
  vidalia vmtk wzdftpd

The following use -lssl or -lcrypto in link lines but don't end up with
dependencies on libssl1.0.0 (so presumably indirect linkage or unshipped
binaries):

  389-ds-base asio dicomscope libfprint libyahoo2 qpid-cpp

qt4-x11 uses the OpenSSL headers, apparently successfully, but relies on
run-time linking.

libgwenhywfar and ssldump already fail to detect OpenSSL, but those are
due to buggy library tests and have nothing to do with headers.

The one case that's a real problem is ntp, which does indeed misbuild
because it fails to detect OpenSSL headers. I've filed a bug for this
with a patch (#696390).

this was merged into base-installer 1.129, and seems to be responsible
for the build failure, in the test suite:

FAIL powerpc/powermac_newworld.test arch_get_kernel want 'linux-image-powerpc',
got 'linux-image-powerpc-smp linux-image-powerpc'
powerpc: 113 passes, 1 failures.

It looks to me like this is just a matter of registering the smp
flavour as one of the possible value for kernel-2.6 in
kernel/tests/powerpc/powermac_newworld.test (it's already known as a
usable flavour anyway), but a confirmation would be nice.

since there's no “don't create the root account” button/option in d-i,
I think it would be nice to mention that not specifying a password for
root means “choosing not to create […]” somewhere.

The documentation say: "SHOULD support files that have more than one
Stream or Stream padding". Please note the should. So missing support is
no bug on its own, but it should at least check that there is no

Indeed. I have no clue what quilt had been doing with your patch, but
it did apply cleanly.

Anyway applying patch correctly (patch -p1), I do not see anything suspect.

The Depends: line for libdcmtk2 now looks correct.

choose-mirror in squeeze no longer builds because of the cvs.d.o URL
change (cvs.d.o → anonscm.d.o); this is trivially fixed by updating
Makefile with the new URL:

http://cvs.debian.org/*checkout*/webwml/english/mirror/Mirrors.masterlist?rev=HEAD&cvsroot=webwml&content-type=text/plain

You can work around that bug by pretending you're offline, setting
ONLINE=n in the environment. But that won't get you an updated list.

SRM, ACK on principle for the following trivial update in squeeze?

That is probably best...

Bug#696382: dovecot-common: config file purged after upgrade to 1:2.1.7-2

I performed upgrade of dovecto from version 1.2.15-7 (squeeze) to
1:2.1.7-2~bpo60+1 (squeeze-backports). After that I purged
dovecot-common and it has removed my dovecot config file!

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install dovecot, dovecot-imapd and dovecot-common from stable.
2. Make sure that /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf exists
3. Upgrade dovecot to 1:2.1.7-2~bpo60+1
4. Purge old dovecot packages (dovecot-common)
5. Check that /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf exists

Result:
File /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf removed during dovecot-common's
postrm script execution (lines 8-13).
But this file is needed for new dovecot version to work!

In 2.1.7.x dovecot-common is replaced by dovecot-core. It seems like you
don't have dovecot-core installed even though it is a dependency of that
version of dovecot-common. How did that happen?

I usually replace the "NMU" part in such diffs by

Bug#696337: Review of dualword package

2012-12-20 Thread Juhani Numminen
Hi, Alexander!

Please note I'm not a Debian Maintainer. I can't sponsor packages.
Here are some points about dualword you should consider. I'm sorry if I
sound too impolite...

 * I couldn't build the binary package at all. With cowbuilder:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 pbuilder-satisfydepends-dummy : Depends: libestools2.0-dev (>= 2.0)
which is a virtual package. Depends: libxapian-dev (>= 1.2) but it is
not going to be installed. Unable to resolve dependencies! Giving up...

Probably caused by dependency libestools2.0-dev (>= 2.0) which is a
virtual package, but here I'm not sure.
I also tried building by hand (amd64) and I could pass that problem
adding "-d" to debuild. But, now there's no packages to build,
because it has been specified "Architecture: i386".

 * Lintian reports some warnings on this package, here's what I get:

W: dualword source: package-depends-on-hardcoded-libc dualword depends
W: dualword source: non-native-package-with-native-version
W: dualword source: ancient-standards-version 3.8.4 (current is 3.9.4)
W: dualword source: debian-watch-file-should-use-sf-redirector line 2

with "--info" parameter Lintian shows suggestions how to fix these.
 * About lintian overrides, the section must be specified in small
caps. "Section: Education" and "Section: education" are different.
 * You have specified "Architecture: i386" in debian/control and "-w32"
in QMAKE_CXXFLAGS in src/dualword.unix.pri. Is there a reason for
that? As I wrote, this might have caused this package to be
   somewhat unbuildable on amd64 machines.
 * There are also other hard-coded library depends on the binary
package. Please remove those, they are handled by ${shlibs:Depends}.
 * The binary is not hardened [1]. You could switch to debhelper
compatibility level 9 (echo 9 > debian/compat) to ease hardening.
 * debian/copyright could follow Machine-readable format[1] (although
this is optional according to policy manual[2]).

[1]http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/copyright-format/1.0/
[2]http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightformat

Bug#696395: vte: please support multiarch

2012-12-20 Thread Colin Watson
Package: vte
Version: 1:0.28.2-5
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: multiarch-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: multiarch

Hi,

It'd be helpful if vte were converted to multiarch. This would unblock
cross-building of the 27 packages that build-depend on it. (I realise
that vte3 probably ought to be done too, but this was the one I ran into
first ...)

I omitted the generated debian/control diff.

I went to some effort to convert libvte-dev to Multi-Arch: same,
including forwarding a relevant patch upstream, before realising that it
isn't currently possible to coinstall multiple libvte-dev packages
because none of libcairo2-dev, libgtk2.0-dev, libpango1.0-dev, and
libglib2.0-dev are Multi-Arch: same. Still, I don't think it's harmful
to include that part of the patch anyway.

  * Support multiarch.

Bug#696397: gdb-avr: add Built-Using field

2012-12-20 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: src:gdb-avr
Version: 7.2-1

gdb-avr uses the gdb source from gdb-source, but does not indicate so with a

full source for this package as the specific version of gdb used to build the
package could be replaced with a newer version.

I've attached a patch adding the Built-Using field to the gdb-avr binary
package.

Bug#696398: override: gdb-msp430:devel/extra

2012-12-20 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

gdb-msp430 doesn't contain debug symbols and thus shouldn't be in the debug
section. Please move it to devel instead (the same section as gdb).

There's also a bug filed against the package requesting the same change[1].

Bug#696399: Build-Depends on gdb-source, but ships its own copy of the gdb source

2012-12-20 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: src:gdb-msp430
Version: 7.2a~mspgcc-20111205-1
Severity: normal

gdb-msp430 build-depends on gdb-source, but ships its own copy of the gdb
source in gdb-7.2a.tar.bz2 instead of using the one included in gdb-source.

The package also uses Built-Using in a wrong way: Built-Using belongs to the
binary package, not the source. See #696397 for a patch implementing it.

Bug#696401: unetbootin: Cannot put image to flash storage in SD cardslot.

2012-12-20 Thread David Smith
Package: unetbootin
Version: 575-1
Severity: important

Hello.

I have an SD card that I want to put an image on.
If I put the SD card into the SD cardslot on my laptop, I get the availability
of /dev/mmcblk0
 and /media/sdcard.

However, unetbootin does not detect these locations as available to put an
image to.

If I take that *EXACT* same SD card, put it into a USB SD card reader, and then
plug that USB SD card reader into the laptop. I get the availability of
/dev/sdc1 which is mounted at /media/usb0. At which point, unetbootin is able
to detect and write an image to the SD card.

basically already seen the diff (modulo the version and some version
boubds). The full testing -> tpu diff is attached as itext_tpu.diff and
I also included an interdiff.

Yeah, just need to reschool most of our Java developers first. Though
I suspect if we did manage that, we could make Java libraries smooth

Bug#696386: makedumpfile fails with elf_readall error : potential regression in libelf1

2012-12-20 Thread Bouchard Louis
The issue doesn't come *directly* from makedumpfile but seems to be a
regression with libelf1 which it uses.

Testing with Wheezy's version of libelf1 (0.152-1+wheezy1) does work.
And since makedumpfile 1.5.0.1 was tested and released just before the
latest libelf1, it did pass the test for the previous release.

Bug#695774: redmine: fails to upgrade, says something about a pgsql_adapter

2012-12-20 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Hi again,

this is even funnier. On the machine, I have:

# fgrep Value: /var/cache/debconf/passwords.dat

Value:
Value:
Value:
Value:
Value:

So apparently, it lost *all* password information.

# ls -l /etc/redmine/

total 4
drwxr-xr-x 2 www-data www-data 4096 Dec 12 17:36 default

In /etc/redmine/default/database.yml there _is_ set a
password, but apparently not the correct one.

And finally: when I wrote the bugreport, *after* the
upgrade that failed to configure, Redmine was still
running, until I restarted Apache, now it 500s, which
is pretty much expected, so the database.yml *was*
changed and it had an older, nonzero, value that
actually worked.

Approximate order in which I did things:

apt-get install redmine redmine-pgsql
[ config fails due to missing postgresql server ]
apt-get install postgresql
[ redmine asks for half(!) the config values again ]
[ redmine works ]
apt-get --purge dist-upgrade
[ redmine asks for nothing but fails to upgrade ]

bye,

Later on, I added firmware-linux-all (to get the wifi firmware) and on
the next boot, X was failing again, this time it was a blank screen and
this was in the log:

drm wait for fifo failed status : 0xE57004E0 0x00110103

I was still able to access the box remotely using ssh

I removed all the firmware packages except the Intel wifi firmware, and
subsequently I could boot successfully

As far as I know this is bug http://bugs.debian.org/653011 in
gnome-keyring. Do you agree?
The workaround is to comment module: gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so out
in /etc/pkcs11/modules/gnome-keyring-module.

I don't know why your wget uses gnome-keyring for https sites. To find
out please send me:
- wget -d https://indeiscente.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/yin-yang.png

- your /etc/wgetrc

What's the status here? (You can do thinks correctly without using
dpkg-maintscript-helper, fwiw.)

Bug#696389: libglib2.0-0: harmful postrm actions for M-A: same package: rm -f /usr/lib/.../modules/giomodule.cache /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled

This one is not critical.

> rm -f /usr/lib/gio/modules/giomodule.cache

This one is a fallback only. There aren't any packages in the archive
anymore shipping gio modules in /usr/lib/gio/modules. So while this
might be theoretical issue, it shouldn't be in practice.
That said, since it is created on the native arch only anyway (see
postinst) maybe we should also only rm it on the native arch?

An alternative could be, to ship the /usr/lib/gio/modules/ directory in
the libglib2.0 package, so the trigger is activated upon removal.

But as said, I don't think this directory/cache file will produce issues
in practice.

> rm -f /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled

We do have a triggers for /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas, so I think they
should be activated after libglib2.0-0:$arch has been removed. A quick
test confirms that:

# ls -la /usr/share/glib-2.0/schema
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 332 Dec 20 13:27
/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled

# apt-get remove libglib2.0-0:i386
...
Removing libglib2.0-0:i386 ...
Processing triggers for libglib2.0-0:amd64 ...

# ls -la /usr/share/glib-2.0/schema
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 332 Dec 20 13:28
/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled

Since the cache files are cleaned up in postrm, the directories won't be
cleaned up automatically by dpkg so we need those rmdir calls.

In summary: I don't see any actual issue here, at least not one which
would justify the severity.

Have you encountered any actual breakage?

Michael

Bug#696386: makedumpfile fails with elf_readall error : more information

2012-12-20 Thread Bouchard Louis
I have just completed a subsequent test on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring, which
uses the same version of makedumpfile and libelf1. To my surprize, it
DOES work correctly on Ubuntu.

Could this be related the the build of the library ?

Bug#692011: taxbird: version in testing (0.16.x) is completely useless, need the latest version for 2012 tax declaration

taxbird's the only one I've heard of needing updates, but that might
just be an issue of timing. ("apt-cache search tax" mostly seems to
throw up results relating to syntax checking or highlighting.)

I don't know, but thought that all of gnucash, aqbanking-tools,
tryton,

openerp, sql-ledger, and what-not should be affected one way or the
other. Ie, all business software packages that deal in taxes and/or
banking, to begin with. Of course, if one doesn't use the relevant
module, or if the package does not include that functionality, then
one

should be unaffected, but I certainly don't have enough overview,
either.

That doesn't seem an unreasonable conclusion, indeed. I'm just
surprised / curious / whatever that we don't see requests for updating
any of those in stable for similar reasons.

Bug#696406: IP_MTU socket option value doesn't restored after 10 minutes.

2012-12-20 Thread Yurij M. Plotnikov
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.35-2
Severity: normal

IP_MTU socket option is not updated after 10 minutes of waiting for
SOCK_STREAM sockets when the value of socket option IP_MTU_DISCOVER
is IP_PMTUDISC_DO or IP_PMTUDISC_WANT.

This can be reproduced with 3 hosts configuration. Let it be the
hosts: host_A, host_B and host _C. host_A via interface eth1 connected with
host_B via intefaces eth1. Let host_C via interface eth1 connected with host_B
via interface eth2. Also Lets address 10.0.1.1/24 is assigned to eth1 on host_A;
10.0.1.2/24 is assigned to eth1 on host_B; 10.0.2.1/24 is assigned to eth2
on host_B; 10.0.2.2/24 is assigned to eth1 on host_C. Also there are two routes:
"10.0.2.2 via 10.0.1.2 dev eth1" on host_A and "10.0.1.1 via 10.0.2.1 dev eth1"
on host_C. Also forwarding is on on host_B. So we have the following picture:

host_A-eth1(10.0.1.1)<-->(10.0.1.2)eth1-host_B-eth2(10.0.2.1)<-->(10.0.2.2)eth1-host_C

MTU is equal to 1500 on all involved interfaces. Then we make the followign
steps:

on host_A:
1. socket(SOCK_STREAM) -> 6
2. bind(6, 10.0.1.1:25630) -> 0
3. listen(6, 1) -> 0
on host_C:
4. socket(SOCK_STREAM) -> 5
5. bind(5, 10.0.2.2:25631) -> 0
6. connect(5, 10.0.1.1:25630) -> 0
on host_A:
7. accept(6) -> 7
8. close(6) -> 0
9. getsockopt(7,IP_MTU) -> 0 // Returns that MTU is 1500
10. getsockopt(7,IP_MTU_DISCOVER) -> 0 // Returns that default value is
IP_PMTUDISC_WANT

On eth2 on host_B and on eth1 on host_C change MTU from 1500 to 750. Wait for a
while.

11. send(7, lenght=1400) -> 1400
On host_C:
12. recv(6) -> 1400
On host_A
13. sleep(5);
14. getsockopt(7,IP_MTU) -> 0 // Returns that MTU is 750

On eth2 on host_B and on eth1 on host_C change MTU from 750 to 1500. Wait for a
while.

Repeat the steps 15-18 for 20 minutes:

On host_A:
15. send(7, lenght=650) -> 650
On host_C:
16. recv(6) -> 650
On host_A:
17. sleep(60)
18. getsockopt(7,IP_MTU) -> 0 // Always returns that MTU is 750

So the value of IP_MTU socket option is not restored to 1500 even after 20
minutes.
There is the same picture if IP_MTU_DISCOVER is set to IP_PMTUDISC_DO at step
10.

Bug#696408: flashplugin-nonfree: epiphany and iceweasel crash when loading a flash site

2012-12-20 Thread Maikel Linke
Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 1:2.8.2+squeeze1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Some days ago the auto-update function updated the flashplugin. Since then my
browsers iceweasel and epiphany crash whenever they load a flash site like a
Youtube video. I tried to reinstall the package, no effect. The gdb output is
attached. If you can't reproduce it, it may be a problem of my CPU. Someday I
experienced problems running SSE instructions. Different compile flags help.
Then you should decrease the importance, but still a group of users will be
affected, I guess.

gdb output:

Bug#696411: aptitude: Missing dependency on apt?

2012-12-20 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.8.2-1
Severity: important

After I ran into http://bugs.debian.org/548505 (aptitude: considers apt
essential) I noticed, that if apt isn't really essential, in theory I
should be able to remove apt and then still be able use
aptitude. (Actually someone asked me a few months ago if you can use
aptitude without apt and answered "no" because due to #548505 I thought
that apt is an essential package anyway.)

aptitude has no dependency on apt, just on libapt-pkg4.12 which is built
from the apt source package.

Nevertheless very basic actions, like installing an additional package,
fail, if apt is not installed:

root@acromantula-domu1:~# aptitude install htop
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  htop
0 packages upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 74.9 kB of archives. After unpacking 216 kB will be used.
W: Unable to read /etc/apt/preferences.d/ - DirectoryExists (2: No such file or
directory)
W: Unable to read /etc/apt/preferences.d/ - DirectoryExists (2: No such file or
directory)
E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/http could not be found.
E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/http could not be found.
E: Internal error: couldn't generate list of packages to download
root@acromantula-domu1:~#

So since apt is not essential, but aptitude needs some binaries out of
that package to perform very common actions, aptitude must have a
dependency on apt (or at least recommend it).

Filing as non-RC as it seems a rather theoretical issue. Feel free to
raise the severity to serious, though.

 Regards, Axel

Looking at it briefly, two points I thought I'd mention:
 - We have update-initramfs triggers so it looks like parts of the
   (updated) debdiff could go away.
 - You have a double return, which is a bit awkward. ;-)

Besides, I'll be happy to see such a bugfix for wheezy.

Bug#693510: Treat adaN devices as SCSI (cam) devices; improve detection

2012-12-20 Thread Jeff Epler
Control: tags -1 + patch

As noted earlier, the problem is that devices like "ada0" are
incorrectly being treated as IDE devices (ad0), not SCSI (cam) devices
(da0); subsequent ioctls specific to IDE devices (such as IOCATAGPARM)
would fail.

I believe the attached change (debdiff) resolves the problem.

I only tested on an installed system, but believe it would equally well
fix the problem as seen in the installer.

However, I do not have any true scsi devices to test it on, nor do I
have a freebsd 8 kernel to test it on (reportedly, the problem I'm
solving occurs only on the freebsd 9 kernel)

Also, I experienced a little feature creep as I noticed that 'model' was
blank and 'sector size' was not right for AF drives. These are
corrected as well.

Thanks, that looks better.

Just one more question: why do you use Temp::File->newdir() when you
only want a single file? Wouldn't Temp::File->new() be easier as you
would no longer need the open() call in the next line.

more complicated. I have the feeling the pb steems from the switch from

the switch from libobjc3 to libobjc4.

I have no idea if in Debian if it is OK to make a Build Depends on a

Bug#696414: git-buildpackage: new option --symlink-orig-name [PATCH]

2012-12-20 Thread Piotr Roszatycki
Package: git-buildpackage
Version: 0.6.0~git20121124
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

I would like to use git-import-orig tools to import upstream tarballs
for non-Debian packages. I missed an option which would allow me to
import tarballs with other naming schema than the default
../%s_%s.orig.tar%s

This is a patch
(https://github.com/dex4er/git-buildpackage/commit/633f809b730e64f485a0f62776e9ccfb6d2f6138)
which implements a new option --symlink-orig-name. It allows me to
import CPAN packages into Git repository (attached cpan-import.sh). I
found a git-buildpackage as a more universal tool.

Thanks!

Right. There's a bunch of error handling type stuff which could be
improved upstream (which sadly seems dead :-(). I'll probably end up
taking a look at this stuff myself at some point, but that change
wouldn't be appropriate for wheezy now in any case.

update-initramfs itself takes care of this and defers to a trigger when
it can/should.

Yeah, it's the prevailing style upstream. Pointless but harmless.
Another thing I may end up fixing.

Bug#696416: Please, follow man-pages(7) conventions

2012-12-20 Thread David Prévot
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.12.6
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

Hi,

Please find attach a patch aiming to not terminate the SEE ALSO list
with a period (and keeping the comma as separator in the edited lists,
and follow it by other related pages or documents).

Even if devscripts is not part of the “Linux man pages”, man-pages(7)
seems like the most (only?) man pages guideline existing, and may worth
being followed.

If you'd agree, I can go back whole manpages list and propose (or
directly apply) a patch following the other part of the advice: order
the list “by section number and then alphabetically by name”.

Bug#695958: python2.7: Expose multiarch triplet in sys module

This is actually much simpler than I first though. We already have a patch to
calculate `gcc -print-multiarch` in configure.ac and it's already stashed in
the MULTIARCH autoconf variable.

So really, all my patch needs to do is to expose that in the sys module.

sys.implementation._multiarch is fine.

It's already there :)

$ python3.3 -c "import _sysconfigdata;
print(_sysconfigdata.build_time_vars['MULTIARCH'])"
x86_64-linux-gnu
$ python2.7 -c "import _sysconfigdata;
print(_sysconfigdata.build_time_vars['MULTIARCH'])"
x86_64-linux-gnu

Updated patch attached.

Bug#696418: missing Built-Using on bf-utf (for bf-utf-source)

2012-12-20 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: src:debian-installer
Version: 20121114
Severity: serious

debian-installer uses bf-utf-source, but misses a Built-Using field for this
package.

Since dpkg (>= 1.16.2), dpkg-query has an easier way to extract the required
information for installed packages:

   dpkg-query -f '${source:Package} (= ${source:Version}), ' -W bf-utf-source

should give the missing value.

I removed the NEWS.Debian change and built a new package. The new

What do you think? Is this ok now?

Are these failures on Rasperry Pi, but including a official debian
armhf repository? Debian's armhf does not support the armv6l[1].

 [1]: http://wiki.debian.org/ArmHardFloatPort

Am I correct that you ended with a system using armhf repos for
rapserry pi but mixing an Debian armhf repo?

In case you rasperry pi only armhf repository you might report this to
the rasperry pi project.

Regards,
Salvatore
