Bug#506171: Crash in kernel for smbumount and cifs

2009-07-09 Thread Fernando Ruza Rodriguez
I still get this bug in lenny. I have updated the kernel to
2.6.26-2-amd64 to see if it works. This is the log of the crash:

Hi Daniel,

(note that messages sent to the bug number aren't sent to the submitter.
You should Cc the submitter in such cases).

Alternatives in build-dependencies are not supported by sbuild, and are
a bad idea in general (because your package might end up being built
against different packages on different arches).

Bug#536333: kernel-package: do_initrd is undocumented

2009-07-09 Thread Piotr Engelking
Package: kernel-package
Version: 12.014
Severity: normal

linux-2.6 uses the following template in preinst of kernel packages:

[debian/templates/temp.image.plain/templates]
   Template: =ST-image-=V/preinst/bootloader-initrd-=V
   Type: boolean
   Default: true
Description: Abort initrd kernel image installation?
You are attempting to install an initrd kernel image (version =V).
This will not work unless the boot loader is configured to use an
initrd.
.
An initrd image is a kernel image that expects to use an INITial Ram
Disk to mount a minimal root file system into RAM and use that for
booting.
.
The boot loader must be configured to use such images and the system
will not boot until this is done.
.
This message will appear for any new kernel installation unless the
following is added to /etc/kernel-img.conf:
.
"do_initrd = Yes"

kernel-package uses similar language in kernel/templates.in.

The 'do_initrd' option is, however, not documented in kernel-img.conf(5).
Please document this option. Alternatively, if you believe that it should no
longer be used, please stop using it and clone and reassign to linux-2.6
appropriately.

It doesn’t happen for the screen resolutions I’m using, so this is
probably a bad interaction between font sizes specified in points vs.
box sizes specified in pixels.

Could you paste the output of "xdpyinfo |grep -A2 ^screen" ?

There is one, but that's really risky. I don't know the correct
place; it's either in Frank Küster's or Norbert Preining's public home
folder (see prior posts in this mailing list).

The simple and documented way is to put everything in ~/.texmf/ for
your own user, or if you wish to propagate it to every user, install
it in $TEXMFLOCAL, which is usually /usr/local/share/texmf (see
/etc/texmf/texmf.cnf for more information).

When installing, you have to respect the TeX Directory Structure (TDS)
to get your locally installed package working.

Why aren't the headers packaged separately instead of being copied to
 both ffmpeg and mplayer?

In all cases, please add a note to debian/copyright where these come

"xm create -c" produces no output so I suppose the crash happens quite
early; adding "earlyprintk=xen" to the kernel command line also does not
produce anything.

I see. I can set up my own local installation in ~/.texmf or
$HOME/texmf. That will do the job for me.

Nevertheless, I found the prerelease texlive-latex-extra_*.deb in
Norbert's directories (I won't repeat the address out of respect for you
wanting to discourage people to use it). It works well enough (I had to
install with --force-overwrite --force-depends).

It's just document generation, "What Could Possibly Go Wrong?" lol :)
If it starts screwing up badly, I'll turn to the $HOME solution
instead.

Do you have an estimate for when the proper version of the upgrade
should be ready?

Thanks,
Drew

Ping? I see 1.38-3~etch1 is still ACCEPTED in oldstable-proposed-updates,
but it would be very unfortunate to have an Etch point release with that.

I understand the release may not be very soon, but I'm worried
this gets forgotten. Maybe adding a note to the TODO list on top of
 http://release.debian.org/proposed-updates/oldstable.html
would suffice to make sure this gets resolved before the release?

Thanks for your work,

Bug#536333: kernel-package: do_initrd is undocumented

Hi,

There is nothing in kernel-package that uses this debconf
template, and the user is never shown this option. The template.in file
has been cleaned up, and will be present in the next upload.

do_initrd is now obsolete, as far as kernel-package and the
 generated kernel images are concerned.

That is the case for printers that only accept content as raster
images. However, it is not the case for all printers on the market.
Anyhow, the dependency has been added to 1.3.10-5, which is currently
stalled in Unstable due to the Kerberos5 transition.

Bug#527488: your config.{guess,sub} patch...

2009-07-09 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Hello Peter!

Looking over RC bugs I see you've provided solutions for many of them
already, great! I wanted to ask you about the patch for bug 527488. Is
there any reason you're not doing the regular "remove in clean, copy
config.{guess,sub} before config/build"?
Removing the files is an easy way of cleaning up, since missing files
will be ignored when the package .diff.gz is created

Since the TL2009 packages will use features from a newer tex-common
package, that won't work. Moreover, the TL2009 packages are not even
near to being ready for production use.

Bug#536337: linux-image-2.6.30-1-amd64: nvclock operation results in 'freeing invalid memtype' log entries

2009-07-09 Thread Edgar Sippel
Package: linux-image-2.6.30-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.30-1
Severity: normal

As my plain old NVidia graphics card operates its fan normally at full fan
speed, I use a small script to set fanspeed temperature dependent via 'nvclock
-f -F' once per minute. When using kernel 2.6.30-1-amd64, every script run
causes dmesg and syslog entries like

Jul 9 01:35:01 blechtrottel kernel: [ 6973.776487] nvclock:13257 freeing
invalid memtype fd00-fd01
Jul 9 01:35:01 blechtrottel kernel: [ 6973.948144] nvclock:13257 freeing
invalid memtype fd01-fd03
Jul 9 01:35:01 blechtrottel kernel: [ 6973.991183] nvclock:13261 freeing
invalid memtype fd00-fd01
Jul 9 01:35:02 blechtrottel kernel: [ 6974.145357] nvclock:13261 freeing
invalid memtype fd01-fd03

I searched a little bit around and found http://lkml.org/lkml/2009/3/17/365
which looks a little bit like a similar issue, except that my machine seems to
work normally except those log entries (glxgears shows same fps like on
2.6.29-2-amd64 where these logentries do NOT appear).

Regards,
Edgar

Bug#536290: nbd-server: Unknown error reading config file

No it doesn't.

It's a *warning*, not an error. nbd-server will happily continue with
the command-line specified configuration if it can't parse the config
file, but will give you a warning message that the config file could not
be read.

Since you specified a port and a filename, nbd-server should be running
and waiting for a client to connect at this point.

That is an incomplete template file to be used by the debconf
configuration scripts. By itself, it indeed is an invalid configuration
file.

Bug#536339: Newer versions than that in oldstable cannot build kernel anymore

2009-07-09 Thread Klaus Ethgen
Package: kernel-package
Version: 12.017
Severity: grave

This is a bug report for my unstable system which do not have a working
mail setup at the moment. So I deleted all that information from my
stable box. But it is also related to stable.

For long time now I use make-kpkg now to build my kernels. But since
several months the recent versions are not able to build kernels (at
least recent kernels). The last version I have found to work is the
version from oldstable (etch) so I've stick on it. But the problem gets
worse as this old version cannot build kernels > 2.6.28.*.

Well, lets track the problem down. I just (today) made a log file (in
the attachment) of a build run with 12.017 from unstable.

I hope, that this package will get stable in future as I like to build
the kernel in a clean way and to make it the debian way. Also I want to
play with the latest kernels on my unstable machine as there is some
features I need to test.

Regards
   Klaus

Ps. Ah yes, for the kernel in oldstable some need to add a small line to
compile with 2.6 kernels:
"INSTALL_FW_PATH=$(INSTALL_MOD_PATH)/lib/firmware/$(version)  \" after
line 112.

Bug#527083: Ubuntu's 287215 ?

2009-07-09 Thread Sebastien Delafond
I'm seeing this one: when I startx with my USB keyboard plugged in,
everything is fine and both the PS2 keyboard and the USB one honor my
xmodmpa settings; after I unplug and replug the USB keyboard, it reverts
to using a vanilla mapping, and my xmodmpa settings then only work on
the PS2 keyboard. I believe this bug is the same as Ubuntu's 287215[1].

Cheers,

Ok, sorry for my overly quick bug report, I hadn't checked whether
nbd-server was actually running and assumed it didn't because of the
error/warning message.

Still, I think that there's something to be improved here: nbd-server
gives this warning without any other message that it has started. This
message looks pretty serious, especially since the man-page explicitly
states that a non-existent or empty config file can be specified
without problem. I'd suggest to make it clear in the warning message
that nbd-server is still started and/or update the documentation about
this message. Or maybe add a default configuration file which
nbd-server can parse and which removes this warning message?

Jaap

Put it into TEXMFHOME = ~/texmf, or TEXMFLOCA = /usr/local/share/texmf.

It could be a good idea to get the confirmation from the reporter,
before closing. The mere porting to playbin2 in itself doesn't
guarantee that chained Ogg playing will work.

Bug#536343: tex-common: docbase section for tex-on-debian

2009-07-09 Thread Drew Parsons
Package: tex-common
Version: 1.20
Severity: normal

tex-common provides two doc-base entries, one for debian-tex-policy
and one for tex-on-debian. Both register into the Debian section in
the docs.

debian-tex-policy explains how to organise other TeX packages for
Debian, so of course Debian is the correct section for that.

tex-on-debian, on the other hand, is intended for users who want to
extend their TeX system locally.

There is some TeX user documentation for other packages found in
Section: Tex and some in Section: Text.

I'd like to suggest that ordinary users may not think to check the
Debian section for TeX user docs, and so I might suggest registering
the tex-on-debian in either the Tex or Text section. What do you think?

Bug#532293: Clarification...

2009-07-09 Thread Henk Koster
There have been several updates of the open-vm-source package in Sid
since this bug was filed, as well as a new kernel 2.6.30 and a new
source package at SourceForge. I just want to confirm that the current
open-vm-source package in Sid (2009-06-18) still does not build with
m-a, and that the work-around posted above does also apply to all these
updates.

To clarify for those unfamiliar with the syntax of makefiles:

1. Run "m-a a-i h...@debianvm:~$ lsmod |grep vm
vmsync 4704 0
vmmemctl8824 0
vmhgfs 50408 0
vmci 30016 0
hpen-vm" (as root) --> this still fails, but leaves an unpacked
   source in the /usr/src/modules/open-vm/ directory.
2. Download the latest stable tar-ball
open-vm-tools-2009.06.18-172495.tar.gz from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/open-vm-tools/files/ and unpack it, e.g.
in /home/user/Downloads.
3. As root, edit /usr/src/modules/open-vm/Makefile and add at the
beginning of each of the lines under 'build'

OVT_SOURCE_DIR=/home/user/Download/open-vm-tools-2009.06.18-172495
(let the remainder of the line wrap around).
4. Now rerun the m-a command, except that the source must not be
unpacked again (that would override the changes just made), so use the
command (as root) "m-a -O a-i open-vm" (that's a capital letter O), and
now the compilation and the subsequent Debian packaging and installation
of the modules succeeds (it did for my 2.6.30-1-amd64 kernel in a mixed
testing/Sid system) --> open-vm-modules-2.6.30-1-amd64 package listed
in Aptitude under Obsolete and Locally created packages. The modules
load properly:

$ lsmod |grep vm
vmsync 4704 0
vmmemctl8824 0
vmhgfs 50408 0
vmci 30016 0

Cheers!

No idea. I uploaded the first version that can actually be installed

And they are missing thousands of things (replaces, upgrade paths), and
TL2009 is not even released by now, so we definitely wait for the final
release.

Bug#522858: The upstream version works fine

2009-07-09 Thread Michael Livshin

Guys.

You may seriously want to reconsider the debian patch to src/list.c.

What it does, basically, is make tar exit when it encounters a zero block
and no -i flag is given, without exhausting the input.

The "without exhausting the input" part is important when the input is
piped from a decompressor, because it means that the gunzip (or bunzip2,
or whatever) child of tar gets a SIGPIPE, and beginning with 1.22 tar
actually bothers to notice the fact and bombs out too.

Bottom line: this patch has always been wrong, but its effect is only
visible

beginning with the 1.22 upstream version.

Cheers,

For example Fedora's Xen 3.4.0 source RPM contains the xen-3.4.0.tar.gz
release tarball, and they build the included ioemu, just like in earlier Xen
releases. That is the correct way to do it.

An empty config file will still produce a warning. I'd have to create a
'default' config file with a working configuration, which would export
things the user may not want to export. Bad idea :-)

Now that 2.6.30 has entered unstable, are there plans to upload a

JFTR: It was sent to -done, which AFAIK automatically sends a note to the
submitter. Did this change recently?

> Alternatives in build-dependencies are not supported by sbuild,

Use the -C switch. Further this behavior is violating the Debian Policy section
7.1. You might file a bug report with severity "normal", but not a serious bug.
The alternative package is available and has to be used accordingly to the
policy:

"[..] the package names listed may also include lists of alternative package
names, separated by vertical bar (pipe) symbols |. In such a case, if any one
of the alternative packages is installed, that part of the dependency is
considered to be satisfied. [..]"

> and are

> against different packages on different arches).

They might be a bad idea in some cases, but not in our case, where libboost-dev
is
the expected fallback, if libboost1.37-dev is not available. This is the result
of
more than 4 boost versions in Debian and libboost-dev will stay the alternative
version. I don't see any other solution.

Downgrading this bug to normal.

Regards, Daniel

Bug#536348: openoffice.org: problem to create PDF/A-1 files with amd64-systems

2009-07-09 Thread Reiner
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1:2.4.1+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

When create a PDF files with options PDF/A-1 on a amd64 system, opening with
any adobe acrobat reader (8.x, 9.x, linux, windows) hangs with
the message "There is an error processing a page. Invalid ColorSpace." All
other pdf-reader (evince, xpdf, ...) work fine.

Is seems to be a bug in acrobat reader, but I think it isn't. When I create a
PDF/A-1 file on a 32-bit system (lenny, testing, sid), the
problem doesn't appear. Only on amd64 systems, as well openoffice.org-2.4.1
(lenny) as 3.0.1 (lenny-backports) produces this problem.

Bug#536349: emacs22-common: mailcap entries for compose(1) and auto-insert-mode

2009-07-09 Thread Mario Lang
Package: emacs22-common
Version: 22.3+1-1.1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Reminded by <20090709005937.ga10...@dario.dodds.net> I realized that it
would be pretty useful to map run-mailcap action compose to what emacs
already offers with auto-insert-mode.

Quoting run-mailcap(1):

   EXAMPLES
 ...
 compose text/html:index.htm

This is a perfect example of what emacs is capable of.
However, since auto-insert-mode is not enabled by default, many users
probably do not know. But the compose action explicitly tells
us the user wants to compose a new document, so template insertion
should be forced in this case.

Without the attached mailcap entries, vim is fired up with a blank new
file when doing "compose text/html:index.htm".
With the attached mailcap entries installed under
/usr/lib/mime/packages,
emacs fires up and asks for the document title. It then automatically
inserts a simple HTML template. The same also works for:

$ compose file.h
$ compose file.hh
$ compose document.ltx

Additionally, as a side benefit, emacs is now also fired up when
doing

$ edit index.html
or
$ edit file.ltx

and the appropriate mode is initialized according to auto-mode-alist.

No, I believe Lucas is right. The first option *has* to be available in
practise, this is a long-standing difference between Policy and how
Debian (i.e. the autobuilders) actually works.

It is OK (IMHO) to add the second Build-Depends to ease backporting, but
for unstable, we havet to make sure that the first is installable.

There will be a new upstream version of OpenBabel in the next days
anyway, and we can then address this problem.

cheers,

Michael

This is better solved in CDBS: config.guess and config.sub is overridden
with those from autotools-dev - but currently the files are looked for
only as files, broken symlinks are not handled.

I'll extend CDBS handling to also look for symlinks.

This is probably because you have not installed v4l ptlib plugins.

Please test with the new (tomorrow) 3.6.4 version, it includes all the

Huh? *.wav doesn't seem like a name for an audio device.

The same happens for video (--grabber), but the error message is:

Bug#536354: linux-2.6: [s390,lenny] kernel panic during boot

2009-07-09 Thread Frans Pop
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.26-17
Severity: important

A user reported on d-s390 [1] that a Lenny installation on s390 failed
with a kernel panic during boot. I could reproduce the panic on my
Hercules system using the installer.

I then installed the current Lenny kernel on my installed Hercules system
(running sid), and when I rebooted that with .26 I got the same panic, so
it looks to be a kernel problem and not an installer problem.

We included an s390 specific patch in 2.6.26-16 for #511334, but TBH I
would be surprised if that was the cause given that it was very well
tested.

I'll try to look into this myself but can't give an ETA for results.

Cheers,
FJP

I think most of my problems are related to vCard 3.0 vss 2.1. I am
still investigating. vCard 3.0 seems a regression (also see
#536094).

If you're the one taking care of RC bugs, then you ought to be
listed as maintainer.

If the package remains unmaintained, it should be removed. The QA
team is overloaded, and relying on peole like you to "take a look"
isn't going to ensure Debian's quality.

WTF?! for what do you need to build-depend on openssh-server?

Watch your tone. Things go smoother if you are nice to
people.

It is needed for SFTP compatibility:

...

scponly has been in the archive since 2004, so that dependency
is there 5 years already. If your buildd can't handle it, fix
it. According to the buildd log, it crashed while generating
the ssh host key:

My current solution is to use the following shell script as 98.sh,
before 99.dup gets run:

  # halt if duplicity is still running

  pid=$(pgrep duplicity)
  if [ -n "$pid" ]; then
echo Halt: duplicity still running with PID $pid. >&2
exit 1

Ugly, but works…

It would be *insane* to ask every reporter if his bug is fixed *even before
uploading the package*. Do you want every reporter to build himself the package
from our svn to test it before we close it? Do you want us to wait for their
replies? No way, sorry.

You can always reopen the bug if it's not fixed. Isn't it?

Later I found out, that the bug was already archived, so refusing the

I guess ghc6 should catch the error and then treat the file as if it had
an old version identifier, thus leading to a recompilation.

Bug#441626: scponly: Support --bwlimit option of rsync

Vincent Bernat wrote:

Hi !

Using rsync with --bwlimit option is rejected by scponly. Here is a
patch that adds support for this option. This patch also includes
patch from bug #404996 since it depends on it (having --bwlimit
support when rsync is not supported is not very useful).

This patch adds '=' to the list of allowed characters. It also adds
the special case for --bwlimit: checks that the option begins with
--bwlimit= and the remaining characters are numeric.

I got some work done on this myself during my vacation, so taking over
the ITP.

There are some minor licensing issues to solve, upstream is working on that.

I'll push my packaging somewhere on git.debian.org soon. Comaintainers

Bug#536359: opentoken: Signed integer tokens sometimes fail scanning

2009-07-09 Thread Niklas Holsti

Package: opentoken
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

The symptom of this error is that signed integer tokens are not
always recognized as such; scanning may fail at the leading
'+' or '-' sign.

The error is in OpenToken.Recognizer.Integer.Analyze and is that
this procedure fails to assign any value to its "out" parameter
"Verdict" if The_Token.State is First_Char, Next_Char is '+' or '-',
and The_Token.Allow_Signs is True.

The result is that the analysis can work or fail depending on the
mostly random value that happens to be returned in this parameter.
On my earlier compiler (gnat 3.15p on Debian Sarge) it succeeded;
on my current compiler (gnat 4.3.2 on Debian Lenny) it fails.

The fix is to add an assignment to Verdict in this case:

   case Next_Char is
  when '-' | '+' =>
 if The_Token.Allow_Signs then
Verdict   := So_Far_So_Good;  -- ADDED LINE
The_Token.State   := First_Numeral;
 else
The_Token.State   := Done;

I do not (for historical and cross-platform reasons) use the
OpenToken library included with Debian. Instead, I compile from
the OpenToken sources (version 3.0b). I compared the Debian source
file to my sources and the bug seems to be present in Debian
OpenToken. However, the upstream maintainer (Stephen Leake) has
told me that he has also found and corrected this error, and that
the correction will be included in the next upstream release of
OpenToken.

Actually this does guarantee that chained Ogg playback will work (unless

No, sorry. But it seems to be caused by:

Build-Depends-Indep: haddock, hugs, ghc6-doc, hscolour (>= 1.8)

Doesn't buildd installs Build-Depends-Indep before building the packages?

$ dpkg -L hugs | grep /usr/bin/ffihugs

Good morning.

Bug#536361: duplicity: no way to resume an interrupted backup

2009-07-09 Thread martin f krafft
Package: duplicity
Version: 0.4.11-2
Severity: wishlist

Trying to back up 460Gb takes about 5 days on the machine I have
available. I have tried now for half a month to make a backup with
duplicity, but it dies 6 times already, due to bugs, memory
problems, or network issues. Just today, it died after 4.5 days!

The worst is that there is no way to resume a broken backup. I've
done about 400Gb of a backup in those 4.5 days, and now have to
delete it all and start again. That makes duplicity pretty useless
for larger datasets.

It would be nice if a backup could just be resumed.

Thanks for reporting this bug. This one follows the previous
"bashisms" bug: #530064. I have corrected the various errors (see
[diff])

For the "time" command, as this is not a mandatory command, I have put
it in a "if". So, the checkbashism script still complains.

What should I do about this bug report ?
Also, what is the recommended action about the "time" command?

Regards

Mathieu Parent

Bug#536362: Start order of firehol in touch with NFS is problematic

2009-07-09 Thread Holger Wirtz
Package: firehol
Version: 1.256-4
Severity: important

When using firehol with NFS related services there is a problem when booting
the machine. I get errors like this:

--- cut here ---
WHAT:Getting RPC information from server 'localhost'
WHY: Cannot get rpcinfo from host 'localhost' (using previous firewall
rules)
COMMAND: server nfs\ portmap accept src
SOURCE: line INIT of /etc/firehol/firehol.conf
--- cut here ---

It seems that this is a problem with the startup order. firehol is started
before portmap:

$ ls -al /etc/rcS.d/S*
...
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Jul  6 11:34 S40networking -> ../init.d/networking
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Jul  6 13:46 S41firehol -> ../init.d/firehol
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Jul  6 15:01 S43portmap -> ../init.d/portmap
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Jul  6 15:01 S44nfs-common -> ../init.d/nfs-common
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Jul  6 11:34 S45mountnfs.sh -> ../init.d/mountnfs.sh
...

But starting firehol later (I tried S60firehol) won't work, too, with the same
error message. I got no error when starting at /etc/rc2.d/S41firehol.

The same error occurs on lenny-i386. Is this a general problem?

Thanks, Holger

2009-07-09 Thread dayer
I have tried in Ubuntu 9.04 for amd64 with the install through Adobe

If I try with 32 bits version, with nspluginwrapper emulation, them
sometimes the flash animations disappear for gray boxes and I obatin
with "dmesg" this:

Although with this method I can also open the pages that fail with
native method for amd64.

I am beginning to think that this is a problem with some hardware, but
not with graphic card because I chaged it recently.

Wouldn't the behavior changes here imply a compatibility break, and
therefore require waiting for debhelper 8? Beyond that I didn't really
think about it; I can rewrite this as a patch to dh_installinit if you
prefer, though they seem like logically discrete operations to me.

Bug#513973: OpenFWWF requires kernel 2.6.31

While most of the patches erquired for OpenFWWF have been merged upstream for
2.6.30,
b43: Add fw capabilities" 403a3a136122457165321e90b7569a321cc9ac12 [1]
to automatically disable QoS support for b43 in case of using OpenFWWF is
still missing from Debian's kernels (it's upstream for 2.6.31). Without
this patch, OpenFWWF would have to install a module-init-tools override [2]
for a mere ~6-8 weeks in unstable and handle the subsequent removal of a
bogus Debian Conffile, which has negative side effects on the alternative
proprietary firmware (or future QoS supporting OpenFWWF versions).

What holds the future:
- lenny, kernel 2.6.26 + potential backports.d.o:
  - OpenFWWF is ignored by the kernel
  - it's technically possible to use OpenFWWF by coaxing the kernel into
believing OpenFWWF were the proprietary firmware (installing to
/lib/firmware/b43/ + module-init-tools overrides), see [2].
- sid/ squeeze, kernel <2.6.30:
  - OpenFWWF is ignored by the kernel
- sid, kernel == 2.6.30 (not available for squeeze):
  - without the proprietary firmware installed, b43 can associate with
OpenFWWF, without the afforementioned patch (#533357) or a
module-init-tools override, and goes into a futile cycle of probe
timeouts, MAC suspend errors and firmware restarts (netdev watchdog
triggered)
- sid/ squeeze, kernel >=2.6.31 (or with the patch in [1]):
  - working out-of-the-box
- lenny-and-a-half, assuming kernel >=2.6.31 + potential backports:
- working out-of-the-box, not active backporting necessary (OpenFWWF
has no declared runtime dependencies, it just needs a kernel
  supporting it)

This indirectly also blocks b43-asm from being useful in the archive.
