Lewis,
Are you taking any special measures to be able to prove you used the loan
proceeds for approved uses?
Kinda hard when they get comingled with other funds in a general checking

I think we put them in a separate savings account.

We are putting the funds in a separate account, but are also assuming we’ll
have to produce payroll reports/returns (we use ADP, so that should be easy)

[AFMUG] customers with repeat DDoS attacks

2020-04-19 Thread Ken Hohhof
Has anyone come up with a successful strategy for customers who manage to
provoke repeated DDoS attacks against them, other than to disconnect their
service?

I've got one who just got their 3rd strike after 2 previous warnings.

In 20 years in this business, I've only had this happen once previously.
That customer begged and pleaded and said it wouldn't happen again, he
needed Internet for his business, he said it was his son's fault and he
would ban his son from using the Internet. So I turned him back on and of
course it happened again.

Given the pandemic, I'd like to think there is something I could do, like
require a detailed explanation of what happened (I assume one of his gamer
kids keeps talking smack and getting booted), and how he has dealt with the
situation. But given my limited previous experience, I expect that would
just be gullible on my part, like Charlie Brown and the football.

Might be worth the risk. Some folks guard toilet paper or bottled water like
their life depends on it, we are sitting on a cache of chicken thighs.

Seriously, these pellet smokers have been really fun to tinker with. Trying
out all kinds of new stuff, some doesn’t turn out so well, but some are pretty
good. Did corn on the cob wrapped in bacon with the last batch of meat off
the smoker. Good stuff. Doing my part to reduce the bacon glut.

Well, we are partly to blame. The chicken thighs work great in pellet

wrapped by chicken thighs and yes… bacon. Great stuff.

I heard a news story that said we have too much bacon and not enough pork

That got your attention, didn’t it.

Steve seems to be right, chicken thighs are hard to find in the stores. Why is
that? I thought most of the world preferred every other part of the chicken
including wings. I see legs, where are the thighs going? Are people buying
them now because it’s the cut with the most meat for the money?

Oddly, the store I stopped at today had Halal boneless skinless chicken thighs.
I don’t think I’ve ever bought halal meat or even seen it except in specialty
halal stores. Is some Muslim family going hungry because I bought their halal
chicken?

The other thing I noticed was they had a TON of bacon. I’ve never seen so much
bacon. Many brands and types. Maybe big pork processors in various states are
closing down due to Covid, but that doesn’t seem to be offsetting the bacon
that isn’t being sold to restaurants, which is apparently where most bacon is
normally consumed.

Bacon, bacon, bacon.

Hadn't thought of that, is it feasible?

If it's a console you could block ranges XBL or PSN are using. Blocking
PC gaming might be harder. If you want to put the effort into either vs.
the easier option of telling the customer they need to find a new ISP.

Re: [AFMUG] OT Virus

2020-04-19 Thread Steve Jones
You cant even imagine inept when you live in a state that's actually
managing it. Here in illinois it's a disaster, our governors an utter
moron, he knows there's a whole state here, I think, but his only concern
is Chicago. If it werent for their new mayor, New York would look like a
pony ride. She is pretty bad ass. This moron governor knew our intake
prison was infected and waited until they had transferred infected inmates
across the state before ordering them to stop.
People can say what they want about New York, but cuomo is handling that
shit. NYC and all it encompasses is a small nation of nations inside a
nation. It was going to be a shitshow regardless. If their mayor wasn't
inept it would have been handled. Cuomo should have stepped in there using
whatever authority he needed.
I dont buy the "second round" this fall, but if it hits, I hope our
government leans on cuomo for guidance.

Re: [AFMUG] customers with repeat DDoS attacks

2020-04-19 Thread Steve Jones
You could put a waivable 30 day suspension in your TOS, for first
infraction with a non waivable 30 day suspension for a second within 36
months and 1500 dollar reconnect fee.
The first one might have simply been beating some script kiddy in a fornite
match. The second needs to hurt.

1500 is relatively inexpensive considering the cost of mitigation to you as
well as the global cost to your other customers in lost productivity.

Theyll file an fcc complaint, it will go nowhere, theyll hit the bbb, it
will go nowhere, theyll bad review you, it will be a short hit, but better
than constant service interruptions for your other customers.

Hopefully they terminate service during the suspension period

We got a heads up on one of these guys, thank god. He was NLOS before we
even had his paperwork and luckily he was actual NLOS. I dont know if he
ever found a provider, dont care, F that guy
