Hi, that's a nice one. I've added it to the menu on the sage page, in 
"download > GAP packages". Is this not already a feature in GAP, which 
automatically downloads+extracts those tarballs? E.g. in R there is 
"install.packages" and so on. 

A separate wiki page for R packages would be nice, too. i.e. pointing 
to http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-admin.html#Installing-packages 
plus mentioning the way how it can be called in Sage directly.

Which other standard software systems inside Sage have their own packaging 
system? (besides Python)
