Tim, I take it that you no longer have time to make an upgrade of the sagemath package? Would you be willing to give us/me a brief run- through of the main obstacles you expect? I am able to put some time into making a debian package (and have experience doing that), but it would be good if I could avoid duplicating the work that you have already put into it.
