Like Tim says, I doubt they would allow that.

But

would stop it happening in future.

Perhaps we could create a patched version of Sage, which includes something along the lines of #8447, but delay the trigger for a few months, so its gets updated in Debian + Ubuntu, then issues a warning in a few months time.
