OK, that is possible I guess, I don't know when the first 40Gb was sold, I
thought it was longer than that.

Definitely, yes. There's no WD direct here. EVERYTHING that fails will come
back to me guaranteed within the warranty period.

Both, I wouldn't base it just on my experience, trust me, that wouldn't be a
fair judgement.

Your point is very valid Harry, it is POSSIBLE the drives haven't reached
their 3 year warranty period yet, BUT, believe me, with the amount of drives
that rip through here, I certainly would have expected at least one back by
now. We used to use Quantums, but the failure rate was too high. We tried
IBMs, and, would you believe it? Right smack in the middle of the period
where the IBMs had a high failure rate as well.

Basically what I'm trying to say that I've returned at least one drive of
nearly all brands we've tried (we even tried seagate for a short period),
and I've haven't had to return a WD yet.

But only time will tell I guess.
