I have a 1Gb that I got in '94 that was still running in March '01 when I retired it. I heard from a friend, though, that shortly after that they had some problems with their quality, like in the 1.5, 2, 3, etc. Gb drives. I had a 1.5Gb and a 2Gb given to me by someone who outgrew them. I installed them and one failed (got so many errors that I took it out of the system) and the other ran fine for about a year (then I retired the machine)... So, overall I've had good luck with them. Now, though, I have a Seagate 30Gb and IBM 9Gb SCSI (I think). But I don't go through enough to be considered any evidence, only anectode. But it's obvious that anyone who used a machine as their main home system from '94 to '01 stays far from the cutting edge (but at least linux allows using a machine like that!)... :) -Michael -- In light of the terrorist attack on the U.S.: They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -- Benjamin Franklin, 1759 _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
