I'm rather surprised by your comment that you've never ridden your LongLow no-hands. I own an originally purchased 65 cm Rivendell Road Standard, which has virtually identical geometry to the LongLow, with the exception of the longer chainstays on the LongLow and (possibly) a higher sloping head tube on the LongLow. I have absolutely no problems riding my Road Standard "hands-off". It's very stable with no hint of a tendency to wander or behave badly.
I really don't get all the concerns about the geometry of Rivendells that are sometimes expressed on this, and other (e.g.i-BOB) forums. The geometries aren't all that different from some of the classic road bikes of the 1970-80's (my 1977 Schwinn Paramount is fairly similar, for example). I've also owned, by the way, a very classic French 531 Gitane Super Corsa that I purchased way back in 1971 and later sold. I don't recall that it was a revelatory experience riding that bike.
