If you're not doing it for weight savings or ride quality....just squirt it in your tubes. All the benefits, none of the hassle if things go wrong.
FWIW that's what I do when I don't want to fuss with a complicated rear wheel (cargo, electric, 3sp etc) Haven't changed a personal flat in....2 years? I think? 90% urban riding.
