I put Berthouds on, and they work well, but the flaring rear fender
has the potential to trap and jam a stick or something. I had to
carefully shave off any bolts protruding inside the fenders with a
dremel-type grinder and hand filing to provide enough room for
different gear combinations, and the stock combination doesn't work as
well as my current setup with a low provided by the big cog on a White
Industries 2-cog freewheel and the small stock chainring, and my usual
gear with the small rear and "big" front. I cruise at 15-16 mph and go
long. I feel like I could circle the planet on that bike and never
break down...so long as I don't abuse the legs!
