MM , Yeah ..... all these bikes are nice and all ..... but when it comes to actually using them in an urban environment, theft becomes a huge issue. Even a Surly or any brand name frame becomes a target. It's like you have to ride junk just to minimize your chances of theft. It's sadly ironic one can park a car most places and not worry about it..... but a bicycle is a target as soon as you leave the house.
I remember many years ago when I bought my shiny new '83 Stumpjumper in Flagstaff it didn't take more than a few weeks before someone attempted to steal it on the university campus.
