You could even buy one of those complete-built-up Surly LHTs, strip off the parts and sell the frame and I'll bet you'd still come out ahead compared to the price of buying the identical components separately at retail.

Back in the day, didn't there used to be a fairly crappy bike that came with a full Campag Nuovo Record gruppo, where people would buy the bike, take it out back behind the bike shop, take off the parts and throw the frames right in the dumpster? I don't think that was urban legend.
