I LOVE my Paul Neo-Retros, just had to figure out the proper straddle cable
height for my levers. No squeaks, ever.

Same for the Tektro/Silvers. Any stopping power differences between them
and other brakes are lost on me.

The junky Shimano cantis that come on the "Opposite of slow"-Beam are
terrible, but I swapped out for Kool-stop pinkies and as Jim mentioned,
nosies are now fun! Lots of squal though. Tried to get rid of it, but gave
up and live with it.

I ride exclusively in Sunny and Dry (tm) Southern California as opposed to
the PNW. Might have some differences???
