The truth is that Steel frames break ALL THE TIME. I worked at a steel
frame builder for many years and saw hundreds of broken frames come
through the door for repair, most were not crash damage.

Many of the recent posts on this topic have acknowledged that "stuff
breaks".  No one took issue or said "it can't happen here".  

I submit that had you worked at a carbon/aluminum/whatever frame builder,
you would also have seen broken frames from those materials.  It's not the
material; it's what you do with it.
