And I guess that I'd rather see them deliver short, sold-out runs of
Rambouillets (and Hilsens, Bombadils or Atlantii, for that matter), if it
lets RBW keep cash-nimble enough to swing the run of more affordable models
for '09.

Short, sold out runs are a much better business model than inventory that
costs money every month.  Decades ago, smart manufacturers figured out that
"inventory is evil" (up to a point).  Cash in the bank can be used for lots
of stuff that frames on the shelf can't (payroll, utilities, rent). 

By the time someone is ready to buy a Riv, they're pretty experienced & know
what they want.  So ordering & waiting a bit isn't a big deal.  So, if "the
Ram is not lost, just sleeping", I'll bet if they got interest from enough
people, they'd have a run made.  Maybe they keep notes on inquiries & those
inquiries influence production plans?  If you ask for it, they will build
it, I'll bet.
