We pretty regulalry post something like, "What is the difference between
_______ and _______?" and 1/2 the answers are that there is no difference in
the bikes, it must be the tires. The other half sees night and day variation
between the models.

I think it just shows how subjective our perception/enjoyment is. Consulting
the RBW charts, the Ram and the Atlantis (the pair of discussion du jour) we
see that there are indeed minor differences in angles and dimensions, as well
as tire capacities. These are not constant either, but vary according to frame
size. Small changes matter in bikes, so a 71 deg head tube angle may be
palpably slower than a 72 degree set up. 44 cm chain stays or 43.5? Could be
only what you need to fit taller tires. In my size, the RATIO of top tube
length to seat tube length is differnt between the bikes by 3%. I can feel
that, with the Ram being the shorter bike (HT to ST) and fitting me better.
When you can ajust a seat post up or down in 1/8" increments looking for that
sweet spot, a 1/2 degree, a cm , upslope amount, all work toegther to produce
detectable differences to may riders.

Atlantis and Ram have different tubesets as well. These will "feel" and behave
somewhat differently. I think they are all good bikes. Becuase we differ in
size, proportion and riding habits, we choose differnt bikes, and then set them
up even more differently. Would I be happy if my ONLY bike was a Saluki, or an
Atlantis? Yep. If I had to only keep one of mine though, it would be the Ram.
Just my taste after 1,000s of miles on each bike.

Tailwinds.
