I have just installed Qmail-Scanner for the first time on a RH9 system. After sorting out installing the extra perl modules (perl-suidperl,perl-Time-HiRes,perl-DB_File) and installing qmail/maildrop, I then tried to install Qmail-Scanner 1.20. It installed, it works. Sorry, but it works for me... > line? And if you're about to tell me that setuidgid is not part of perl, > but it works with setuidgid, then wouldn't it be simpler to just run > it through setuidgid? They have nothing to do with each other. Please read the documentation about setuidgid - it cannot be used in the same role! > > I'm not the only person having problems with this in Redhat 9, so > perhaps it would be good to take a closer look at it. No - from what I recall, the RH9 problem people are seeing is due to them installing a BROKEN, SECURITY HOLE ridden install of maildrop-toaster. See the archives for that. I don't understand why there is even a maildrop-toaster. The author of maildrop even provides RPM functionality which works perfectly - that's all I use.
