I've always turned off broadcasting the SSID on my wireless router, stupid
myths aside... <g>

In addition to using WPA2, I also limit the number of IPs that are available
via the router's DHCP.

I have an iPhone 3GS. Setting up wireless access was a one time entry of the
connection info into the phone. Having said that, you still have to pay
attention to when you're connecting via the 3G cell network vs. your local WLAN.

Subject: Re: [NF] Lock down your WI-FI RIGHT NOW!

Broadcasting your SSID is not a security vulnerability, any more than having
house numbers on your house. If you lock down your network with WPA2, then it
doesn't matter if everyone knows your SSID. If you don't lock down your
network, it's easy enough to sniff the SSID even if it is not broadcast. This
is just one of those stupid myths.
