Funny U should say that Paul. My last job - doing SW dev. - was owned by
a larger Warehousing co. - and this older sales guy there - who I was
good buddies with - told me about the Warehouse issue. ITs a Chinese co.
- and he says they work at the warehouse the same way they do in China -
instead of throwing better technology at a problem to solve it - they
just throw More Employees at a problem - since its a Cheap resource.
Problem is - they Pay cheap - so you can get Good Labor - and, as it
proves here - warehouses tend to have Major turn-over - partially
BECAUSE of cheap labor. I've been in some places like that - and a large
percentage either speak Spanish as their primary language - or almost NO
English at all - and that's part of how these places get away with Cheap
labor. You know - like the Lawn Mowing co's here on Long Island - almost
all of them use illegal aliens - and, if you don't speak Spanish - you
can can't even ask them a question!!!

It just gets worse from time to time as employees turn over. Warehouse
staff is not a really stable environment.
Bingo, there's your problem: they need to pay more for better workers
and higher retention.
