M$ CRM. We that here as well. Pretty good workflow engine and it can
message outbound a ton of people.

I would have never thought to use that as the primary engine myself but see
how it could fit in and stand atop of the DW & Cube farm that is set up.

Oh yeah CRM is expensive to a fault and upgrades are not cheap or timely
either. You can skip costly updates for a while, we did that for 3+ years.

All code for CRM is either javascript or css. Once you set the pointers
for the data it is pretty easy to pull up an output that could be a report
or an input screen with rules associated to the screen itself. Currently
we are doing our internal Complaints system in CRM gaining the workflow
engine over what we had.

It is pretty complicated and has 3 teams within our plants working together
to help a customer out with a complaint. Plant people take the call and
start the process. Engineers do an analysis and then a Root Cause sheet
that gets associated to the complaint. When done Sales team identifies if
and how much money will be sent from Ring to the customer all depending on
the contract we are under at the time.

The workflow is great when it finds a complaint forgotten in process and
emails all the necessary peeps depending on what plant and what stage it is
at. So the initial demand to identify that patients were forgotten and
needed some sort of attention for a variety of reasons, CRM sounds like a
decent product to handle that demand.

CRM is a red headed step child for M$ as well. It fits into Dynamics or
can be used independently at other sites. It is run from within Outlook.
