Some people are fortunate enough to have an IT person that they have
known for a long time that can get the job done, warranty their work,
and charge a reasonable amount. I have had several customers that are
not in that position and hire people that they hear about from someone
or another. $900 for running CAT five to two offices in a small office
and setting up a network printer. $900 for swapping out a modem and a
router and because they didn't set it up properly charged for the return
visit to fix it. These are just two examples. I hired a guy to set up
a server for me and ended up firing him and doing it myself. Does
anybody have any advise on how to find a competent network / IT person
in light of all of these entremanuers?
