You are correct. I thought it didn't need postfix as when i set this up
it worked. What i didn't realize at the time which i understand trying
to replicate it, is that dovecot was still using postfix smtp:25 to
deliver out going emails sent to dovecot submission. I assumed since
postfix submission:587 was disabled dovecot was sending direct to the
internet. My mistake.
