Now I'll have to setup an installation to test everything and confirm correct software operation.

I would like to test the new RPMs on a server (CentOS 5.8 x86_64) where there is already a Postfix v2.8.2 built from source (following directions: http://stevejenkins.com/blog/2011/01/building-postfix-2-8-on-rhel5-centos-5-from-source/) running.

Is there a way to completely uninstall this version?
I tried: "make uninstall" but:
"make: *** No rule to make target `uninstall'. Stop."
So, probably there is no such option?

Is it safe to simply "rpm -Uvh" the new RPMs? This I guess will simply overwrite most (practically all) of the existing files, which were generated from source (under the condition that both [built-from-source and new-RPM] are using the standard CentOS/RHEL postfix paths)?

Thanks,
Nick
