Interesting, not least because I have a similar hub and have had some weird issues myself. Test #1:Try Pi + RS Power supply + keyboard & mouse (no hub). Test #2:Plug keyboard + mouse into hub but do NOT connect hub to Pi (yet). Let the Pi boot with only the power supply connected, then (only once you have a desktop or login screen up) connect the hub to the Pi. I've never resolved the issues I was having but did certainly find that with my hub connected it frequently wouldn't boot, but was fine if I let it boot before I connected it.
