A big thank you to Tony Vroon and his colleagues for helping me with my PAT testing. All sorted now.
There is no doubt that lot of people are overdoing these tests but they aren't a complete scam. It was sobering to discover that one of my 4-way extension leads had a socket with a bad earth. Not something I would have wanted to discover the hard way. My thanks to everyone who replied and especially to the people at LINX.
