An introduction to TMSA
(10 January, 2007)
The OCIMF has introduced a new challenge to tanker operators in the form of the Tanker Management & Self Assessment (TMSA) Programme, which is a tool designed to assist tanker operators to measure and improve the standards of their management systems.
In response to this challenge, Seagull has developed a training module (CBT #157), which provides an overview of this programme and explains how and where the TMSA Guide is intended to be used. It serves as an introduction and a reference module and should be used in conjunction with the Guide itself.
Topics:
The module includes the main features and core principles of TMSA; the 12 Elements; its application and implementation and also like all Seagull CBTs, there is an Assessment to evaluate the knowledge gainedIntended participants
This module will be of particular use to:
Personnel working in the offices of owners, operators and managers of tankers and encountering TMSA for the first time; and
Sea staff making the move into shore-based tanker management, or seconded to the office for a related function.
It will also provide an overview of TMSA for senior sea staff, thereby providing a context to procedures established or implemented by management in relation to the ISM Code. For more information please contact:
