John, Lightroom does what I ask it to do. The folder structure is mine and mine alone. Lightroom follows it to the last bit.

Please notice that if you buy version major.0, then all major.x upgrades are free. Additionally, you can buy an upgrade (about 60% or so of the full version price). This is what I've been doing all these years - bought 1.0 full, then bought upgrades to 2.0, 3.0, etc.

When installing, for example, 5.0 on freshly installed Windows, Lightroom asks for the key for 4.0 and then for the key for 3.0. It is because all my versions except 1.0 are upgrades. Beside that minor point - I quite love my Lightroom.

Not saying you should too...
