There are certainly many situations where common sense should take over and
manual focus used. Autofocus should be used when manual focus cannot be
easily achieved for whatever reason. If one uses this concept, then AF
cameras make a lot more sense, because you don't try to have them do what
you can do more efficiently yourself. I shoot my AF bodies manually a good
percentage of the time.
