When you have to back up with a long lens to maintain the same portrait
frame as with a shorter lens, the perspective changes. Background objects
appear larger in relation to the subject. A little drawing with two stick
photographers - close and further back from the subject, a stick subject, a
distant background tree and some straight lines for camera fields of view
will show this.
