I'm partial to my old Vivitar 90mm f/2.8 macro (pre Series I -- went
out of production ca. 1979) for portrait work. The focal length is
just right and I've taken many portraits of exceptional quality with
it. I can't even speculate on why this lens produces such nice
portraits. The FA 100mm f/2.8 macro is perhaps the closest current
Pentax lens and I've also had good results with it.
I consider the FA 77mm f/1.8 too short a focal length for good
portraiture.
