Two things, firstly you're making generalisations when you talk of Winamp
supporting more file types, just have a look at some other players.
I had been under the impression that Windows Media Player wouldn't support
FLAC audio files but I've since discovered - thanks to Google once again
<smile>. - that it can support FLAC and many other formats with the
addition
of "Extenders" or "Plugins", funny that, I've heard the mention of
"Plugins"
when it comes to Winamp too!
Secondly, its not what I like or don't like that is essentual to this
discussion, fact is that you can use Winamp whenever and wherever you
like,
it makes no difference to me or anyone else, only thing is that the
product
won't be updated after December 20 etc so I repeat again, much ado about
nothing and look forward to Christmas as the world will not end of 20
December just because of the end of Winamp.

winamp will play so many more different file types/formats than iTunes,

Okay so are you just saying that or have you actually tried and explored
other players.
For example I've just looked up Windows Media Player Keyboard Shortcuts
using my friend Google and discovered over 200 keyboard shortcuts.
I know VLC has hundreds of the damn things and even more if you're
prepared to take a few moments to customise the software.
I'm yet to find what iTunes doesn't do that Winamp does. The interface
is different and takes a little getting used to I admit.
If you're prepared to spend a small amount of money you can buy one of
the most exciting pieces of audio software for the Windows PC to ever
have been invented on the planet and that's Total Recorder, the player
is incredibly powerful even for the Standard Edition.
And finally, supposing Winamp is a spent force come December 20 then
there's nothing at all stopping anyone from using the software if they
see fit though that may mean that the software won't be able to play any
audio/video formats that come our way in the future.
As I said, much ado about nothing and "Joy To The World" come December
20, so fitting that this event is so close to Christmas Day <smile>.
