Hi list,
Just after I pointed out BeSweet and BeLight to the list, CoreCodec who
hosted the GUI versions went down. However, I've found a new way to
convert AC3.

What you need is Winamp, either the K Lite codec pack or AC3 Filter...
basically the capability of playing AC3 in Winamp. Then you need an
output plug-in for Winamp. I'm currently using Out_Lame, but any plug-in
that outputs files, or can convert files without needing to output them
should work.

Once you have these, you can simply add your AC3 files to a playlist.
You can then use any Winamp command, with the Output plug-ins anyway, to
convert. You can check how much time is left in the file, stop after the
current track, probably stop with fade and any other standard Winamp
commands. I've tested it so I know that output works with Out_Lame. It
converts extremely fast, too. I've been doing 120 minute files in about
30 minutes, and still retaining usage of my PC. This will depend on your
processor, so you out there with the athlons can do it much faster, but
everyone can do it.

I'm currently converting a file, downloading something and have a text
file open. My fan's revved up to max, but I can still operate fairly
fast on a sempron system.
